President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. as his nominee to the Supreme Court, a senior administration official says...
It's called sarcasm.
Thanks. Never would have figured it out on my own.
Thanks for the bump, b.
He will not be confirmed. The Democrats will not allow it.
At least they have some recourse against this fascist. Plastic is better than nothing. No sterilizing required. :)
See below, here's one leftie (writing before today) bemoaning that she considers Roberts anti-abortion and anti-environment. Of course, what DUers consider 'anti' abortion is anyone who won't approve of every possible form of promoting abortion to teenagers.
One must assume that these will be two big themes in the leftist onslaught claiming that Roberts is an 'ideologue' (i.e., anyone to the right of Bill Clinton), but I don't think they have much of a chance of 'Borking' this guy successfully.... especially since the Rs should be so ready, and the web, blogs, talk radio, etc. were not a factor in '87 when Bork was Borked by the vicious Senator from Chappaquiddick.

Judge John C. Roberts
Roberts has quite a significant history in trying to undermine abortion rights, including, under the first Bush administration, co-authoring a Supreme Court brief as Deputy Solicitor General for Rust v. Sullivan which argued for the governments ability to prohibit doctors in federally-funded family planning programs from discussing abortions with their patients.
Among Roberts other writings can be found articles in support of a more expansive reading of the Contracts and Taking clauses of the Constitution, holding positions that would restrict Congress means for environmental protection.
In addition to his judicial résumé, Roberts also has interesting political qualifications. He has been a political appointee under both Regan [sic] and the first Bush administration and is a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association.
Hope he doesn't become a Souter.
WOO HOO!
The nominee is on FOXNEWS now!! President Bush, too.
When is four consecutive periods proper grammar? If you are going to use errors to dismiss the issue at hand, don't be a hypocritical twit.
If the shoe doesn't fit you, you don't need to wear it.
But there are some real toadies here who have done NOTHING but criticize every move Bush makes---usually wrongly---then never have the guts to come back and say, "I was wrong. He did a good thing."
Wow! John Roberts looks like Dan Quayle with darker hair! (I was just watching his acceptance speech when I caught your reply. :o)
Why are you glad he's white?
I like this guy!!!!!
The NAACP will also complain that a White Man" was picked.
They too will get their wish.
Now wait...could also be Garza, or Estrada.
I hope you are all realizing you are idiots in this thing. A Supreme Court Justice? WHo gives a s+it!!!!!! Why are we so incredibly into this. Each and every one of you has a representative in congress. Why are you so much more worried about your judge than the man or woman who represents you. WTF???
Hey, didn't you get me out of that possession charge back in 1976?
You are a nice guy who posts well but in this case... Mr. Bork was way out of his depth on this. I think he made an intellectual argument concerning business and the tech industry without any feel or understanding of either, for how they work, for how they are funded, for what motivates the employees, for anything having to do with the practicality of hardware, software, and the way they are used. I lost all interest in him when he came down as he did.
