It would be just MEAN to start a rumor that Ann Coulter has cancelled an appearance on Hannity and Colmes, to be in Washington... wouldn't it?

Why would he do this to his nominee? Naming the person this early is going to mean they have to endure a long pounding.
Reuters is now reporting that Bush will not announce a nominee, but instead in a joint conference with Rupert Murdoch will launch a new FOX political reality show called "So You Think You Can Adjudicate". The winner of this show will get a nomination to the Supreme Court.
A master stroke by Bush, if you ask me.
This should be in the breaking news.
Is it 9pm yet?
Anybody but a damn lawyer--their job is to mess up the law, not interpret it.
I'm gonna make a prediction that it will be Edith Jones or Michael Luttig. I'm glad he is making this a prime time nomination, that will give him a chance to tell the Senate what their Constitutional role is, and demand that they do it.
I don't know enough about Clement to know whether she would be another Souter or another Thomas.
Is there anything worth reading on this thread, or is it filled with the usual doom and gloomers ranting about how Bush isn't going to appoint a judge that is a perfect conservative?
Now for some Deep Thoughts from DU:

He's bound to pick an extremist who will support him when he refuses to leave office in 2009, who will refuse to uphold the Constitution and who will support right wing attacks against American liberties. The main threats are to the Bill of Rights, our freedom and our civil liberties. It is unlikely anyone would overturn Roe, though it might become more limited. The worst case scenario (and an unlikely one), with respect to Roe, would be the use of a states' rights approach, resulting in an increase in migration to California, New York and some of the other more liberal states.
Bush won't want a paper trail so he'll look at relative unknowns and interview them to make sure they're extreme enough. He'll probablly look to the extremist group, the Federalist Society, for his possiblities. Without a paper trail, he will figure, the Democrats won't know what's hit them until it's too late.
Watch for this. We need investigators who will be able to fill in the details that aren't on record.
Here is my bet for who he picks tonight: Fred Dalton Thompson. Think of how Dick Cheney became Veep. I say it's Fred.
I've got to drop off a job application. I'll be back on this thread soon.
Any guesses of how many threads there'll be tonight after the President announces his choice and, will it bring down FR like the old days? LOL!
Hannity is interviewing Ann Compton of ABC news right after the break (5 EST, 4 CST). She is saying Clement is not the selectee.

FR is starting to get sluggish.

Ann Compton on Hannity now, says Clement has been notified she is not the choice.
