NOORD, Aruba -- Police investigating Natalee Holloway's disappearance made a helicopter survey of Aruba before dawn Thursday after seizing cars and other items at the home of a judicial official whose son was with the Alabama teen the night she vanished.

The son, Joran van der Sloot, 17, is one of three young men in custody who say they were with Natalee Holloway before she vanished May 30.

Aruba's attorney general, Caren Janssen, will not publically reveal what, if anything, investigators found in the search of the home.

Asked why investigators waited more than two weeks to search the house, the attorney general said, "You can't just go in there like a cowboy."

She said officials need to "build up an investigation" first.

Officers carried two garbage bags filled with items out of the house. They also towed away two vehicles.

Police made a helicopter flight over the island before dawn on Thursday. A statement last night said the helicopter would conduct "technical investigations."

A judge is due to rule Thursday on the Dutch man's request to see his son, and defense lawyers' requests to see evidence against the three.

I would hope that car is still impounded, but with the way they do things there I wonder. I've learned from watching these investigations that the mud/dirt/bugs on the car can be traced to a location where it has been. I'm hoping the FBI is able to do some investigation.

Yes, Jr said that last week after another bad day at the races. You know how the media hounds him about everything lately because his equipment has been lousy IMHO.

That mus be the heat seeking helicopter. Heard them talk about this earlier. Evidently it can find the heat of a decomposing body.

After the show we were all exhausted. We have been on the road and the heat, as I noted, is punishing. But we had one last stop. We turned off the lights on the set, jumped in the car and drove into town with our cameras. We wanted to see the club where Natalee was on May 30 and wanted to see it at the time of the night/morning when she was there. I was stunned. Maybe I am getting old — or am old. I did not like the place at all. The bar is about a block off the main drag and in a not-so-safe looking area to me. The island IS safe... but this block did not leave me feeling safe. Of course the hour — 1 a.m. — never makes me feel safe and the drinking was heavy by that time. We talked to many patrons and taped them for you... you will see that tonight. All the patrons said the club is a great place and that the island is safe. We were harassed a bit by some obnoxious patrons but that would happen outside a bar in the USA. But bottom line, I did not feel safe there and neither did anyone in my group. I hope my husband does not read this blog today because he will yell at me for going there — to a place that I did not find safe — at that hour! If he does read it: I am not going back and I was with a crew of people!

I've been at several Carlos & Charlies in both the Caribbean and on the Pacific side. I believe they are the same everywhere. Loud, crowded........and boy, do they push the drinks! I can understand why some young people would enjoy them. We have taken our teen age granddaughters to a few, but never took our eyes off them. I'm sure we cramped their style, but, tough! We brought the girls home sunburned, but safe.
