May 29, 2005 -- Two foreign naval ships arriving in the city for Fleet Week collided off Staten Island yesterday, causing minor damage to both, according to organizers. No injuries were reported. The Jean Bart, a French ship, collided with the Moawin, a Pakistani vessel, off Stapleton Pier, Fleet Week officials said in a news release. The French frigate struck the port side of the Pakistani support ship, which was already moored, the organizers said. There was visible damage across 30 feet of the French vessel's hull, the organizers said. The Pakistani ship was only superficially damaged.

You think they would have a problem with me waving a German flag from the top of that thing? I think you're being awfully cocky with that idea. I mean - when you do that - what are you going to do next? Do you have any idea how to run a country? What will you do after they surrender?

Pakistani Sailor In Town For Fleet Week Accused Of Forcing Kiss On Teen May 28, 2005
Charges are pending against a Pakistani sailor in town for Fleet Week who is accused of kissing a 14-year-old girl against her will.
Police say 30-year-old Nadeem Ahmed was talking to the teenager while walking along the east side of Central Park Friday afternoon when he allegedly grabbed the girl and forced a kiss on her. She broke away and called the police.
Ahmed was nabbed after a brief search.
According to a report in Saturdays New York Post, police had already been looking for Ahmed because a missing persons report had been filed on Thursday when the sailor went AWOL from his ship, the Tippu Sultan.

Seems like he's had a "scrape" of his own.

"when have the French EVER done that?"
Well, on dry land at Waterloo Napoleonic Old Guard was offered opportunity to surrender, but declined it and went down together with their exalted self-esteem, so we do have an example of that mentality. But it happened 190 years ago. Besides, it was on dry land, not on water.

If I was going to France for any reason I think the only thing I would be looking forward to there would be to seeing another freeper like Marie007 which is frence that lives there.
Believe it or not there are a few conservatives there, they are few and far between.

With that much damage they probably traded smells. Yikes a mixture of French and Paki. NYC already is a smell capitol!

well and that was Napoleon too....they probably had a certain pride with them, something seemingly sorely lacking in France ever since...

Was there an American harbor pilot "driving" the French ship?
Were harbor tugs connected to the Jean Bart?
Typical urinalist fact gathering and reportage.

After they surrender, I will make sure the country has a vote. After that, it's on them because I would come back home...

well to be historically accurate, that would go against who I am, so I could just go with a pre World War 1 German flag or a current one...

The French are having a bad week. Today's negative EU Constitution vote and the preposterous comments about ramming the vote down their throats again and again until they get it right. Now this. Thank you, France. The US needed a good laugh.

I would tell her it would be a learning experience of the possible future of France. Besides the best way to learn about a country is to listen to someone that lives there.
