The Christians are at the gates, but they don't want in

All right, enough already. The Christians aren't coming to get you.

I can take the somber, frightened "special reports" on National Public Radio, where you can literally hear the correspondents wringing their hands over the possibility that the "Darwin fish" affixed to their Volvos will be banned. I can even handle the dog-whistle shrieks of Paul Krugman and Maureen Dowd types about the looming Inquisition led by an alliance of the new German (wink, wink) pope and the Kansas Board of Education.

But the most recent episode of NBC's doddering "Law & Order" series is where I draw the line. The episode tells the story of a racist who committed murder nine years ago but who, in shame and remorse, subsequently found Jesus and was born again. In the nine years since he dedicated himself to Christ, he has led an exemplary life. But his guilt is discovered, and he decides to confess and show true contrition.

Perhaps the biggest departure from reality in the episode is the existence of any Born Again Christians in NYC.

The hit piece they did on Curtis Sliwa was a sham as well.

As the writer point out, many liberals are against Christianity but are totally clueless about what Christianity is. Their attitude is "I don't want to know anything about it; I hate it!" It's not very logical.

Hollywood has NEVER gotten Christianity, or, certainly not in the last 40 years.

There are a couple of exceptions. While it is "hard R" rated, I think the movie "Rapture" with Mimi Rogers, does a pretty good job of portraying God's love and man's endless rebellion. I think "Bruce Almighty" made some fantastic points: When Bruce asks, "How do you make someone love you without violating free will?" God (Morgan Freeman) answers, "Welcome to my world." Although it is a hard movie to watch, I think "The Mission" has some tremendous messages of salvation and mercy. While Tolkien himself disavowed any obvious Christian allegories in "Lord of the Rings," I think Peter Jackson did a tremendous job of bringing those out.

But when you look at "Revelation" it is abundantly clear that these people are usually BEYOND clueless.

Law & Order bashes Christianity every chance it gets. I've stopped watching it and gone to another fantasy show - CSI NY.

These things are the preparation for the emergence of the antichrist, for we see clearly the sauntering of the 'spirit of antichrist' all around us. Why can the spirit of antichrist become so open? ,,, Because 'the Salt' has lost its savor.

Another exception was "The Apostle" starring Robert Duvall.
I think Duvall bankrolled the whole production so maybe that one doesn't count.

Liberals are paranoid - about Christians and conservatives under their beds. Sleep tight, children! (laughing)

BTW what is a "Darwin Fish"

Some Christians put a fish symbol on their car as a statement of their faith. The fish symbol dates back to the days when Christians were persecuted by the Romans. Recently some atheists countered with the symbol of a fish with legs on it, to symbolize their belief in evolution. It was even labeled "Darwin", lest anyone should miss the point. Now, the Christians have replied with the symbol of a larger fish labled "Truth", swallowing the "Darwin" fish.

I saw this episode of L&O. Badly written - just writers on a soapbox.

NBC's idea of programming Christian-themed shows that evening was:
* Dateline Special, "Murder in the Vatican", about the death of an Italian banker. The title is a fraud. First of all, he didn't die in the Vatican. Despite NBC's best efforts to blame the death on the Vatican, it turns out that the Italian govt has indicted members of the mob. Regardless of that fact, NBC used a photo of the Vatican as the background graphic throughout the program.
* Revelations - Another episode in the sensationalized, over-the-top drama.
* L&O - episode Jonah critiqued.

As far as Darwin fish symbols go, would those same people desecrate a symbol of another religion in a similar way? I doubt they would ever drive around with a picture of Porky Pig inside a Star of David. And it confirms the fact that people are still using Darwinism against religion.

Although I am not a Christian, I'm appalled at this cr*p.

Atheists dont have to do a thing ...
After reading many threads on this board and others..
I am convinced...Christians left to themselves would bash each other to smithereens...

Christians will undo Christianity all by themselves.
If there really is a devil he must be laughing his butt off watching the Christians tear each other asunder.

my 2 cents... :o)
