An armed populace will be very difficult to enslave. Today's neocummunists so how the communists of yesterday walked in to the country's of Eastern Europe without much concern for armed opposition. Internal conquerors want the same easy walk.
They plan ahead and drive multiple strategies to ensure that the potential armed opposition is reduced in every way. Every rule and regulation limiting ownership of fire arms is based on a desire to tip the balance to armed revolutionaries.
It is all about controlling the people. People who own guns for the most part are more independent think for themselves and are less likely to be looking for the government to help them.
We can not adopt socialist reforms if we have independent people.

At coffee the other day with my redneck coffee gang...........a friend was ranting over updating his registration ...it cost him $60.... meanwhile everyone else also gun owners had never registered yet... :o)
Mine aren't registered...out of sight out of mind...
