Your Night Nurse has promethazine in it.

Not sure if that is legal for over the counter (OTC, no Rx needed) in the U.S.

It'd be great for hiccups, too.

However, you can get some serious permanent neurological side effects if you take it regularly or rarely even with just short courses.

I knew it was pretty strong or nasty stuff thats why I have never used it.

I am surprised though you cannot buy it or something very similar in the States I always thought we were the more nanny society than you.

We cannot buy aspirins or paracetamol in packets of more than 16 some shops do allow you to buy 2 packets and some chemists actually supply them in one bottle or packet of 32 but you have to go to the pharmacy section to get that.

I know when I have seen people buying Night Nurse very often the Pharmacist tries to get them to have a different product or encourages them to have Day Nurse which I suppose it not so strong. If they insist on Night Nurse he gives them a list of instructions and tells them they must only use it for so long. Hence why I have kept away from it.
