You know I have had a discussion with my wife that if we are ever mugged (cougar or not) and it turns violent she is to run the other way while I buy her time. The guy did what a *MAN* should do, and the girlfriend was smart eough to let him do it and not make his job any harder by giving him even more to worry about..

If my wife & I were in that situation, I'd sure want her behind that tree! My job as husband is to PROTECT HER. Given any such mutually life-threatening situation, my first responsibility is to create an escape route for her, that she may survive and that I can focus on the task of terminating the threat. If she's pitching in, it better be rapidly and decisively; otherwise, she's in immediate danger and I have to divide my focus between her and the threat, and place myself in greater danger to lessen hers.

Best move she could have made. Remember teh ditzy blonde with teh chappie who became grizzly scat in Alaska? He told her to run as the bear was killing him. She instead hit Mr. Griz on the head with a cast iron skillet, whereupon she was added to the menu.
