Good post.
I am surprised the pro-death people haven't posted something ugly about this and us.
Why didn't MS offer guardianship to Terri's parents? It all boils down to the inexplicable, or worse.
And even now, there are a lot of people who still don't get this incrementalism.
That's funny! I was just reading that exact same thing. I get it in my Prophecy Update material every day. Thanks for posting.
bumping
Compelling post...Thank You!
It's hard to argue with the truth.
(Or maybe they're just busy on another thread..)
Very timely.
I was just downloading a Will To Live provided gratis by the National Right to Life people, found here: http://www.nrlc.org/euthanasia/willtolive/index.html
and as I did so, I reflected on the fact that the reason Michael Schiavo got away with this is that Terri could no longer talk in complete sentences.
"THE WILL TO LIVE Protects your own life and the lives of your family members when you cannot speak for yourselves."
I'd like your help, or anyone's help, on my thread to develop a list of defendants and a list of charges against the defendants who murdered Terri.
True, but it's also about ignorance with a Capital "I". How many 'average Americans', for example, know that Terri Schiavo is responsive to her parents, smiles, laughs at thier jokes, and weeps with them? The media don't want people to know the truth, not that this is exactly news.
Anyway, great article, thanks for taking the time to write it.
I would have to agree, they're probably on another thread. I recognized several of the pro-death freepers on one I was reading.
Me tooLOL i enjoy the prophecy update. Ijust read it and sent to my family.
yeah, considering that there are more Terri threads than hours in the day ... they are all starting to look the same at this point ... but if you want to credit it to apathy or fear, feel free.
My compliments on a well-chosen article. The author really nails the tectonic shifts taking place in America as they break out into full-blown earthquakes in the form of the public reaction to the passion of Terri Schiavo. Foremost of these, IMO, is the marginalization of Christianity, which comes from government schooling primarily. After a student goes through thirteen years of steady, persistent drills in putting traditional religion into a black box and setting it aside, this inculcated urge to self-alienate from religion weighs on a person for the rest of their life, long after school is but a memory! And the result is a society of incompatible self-asserters that increasingly resembles the Tower of Babel.
I send mine out too. In fact I was just telling someone on here that I got a lot of comfort from a prayer my Pastor's wife wrote and emailed to us. Really uplifting because I've been so down all week. I know there are so many on here who have put their whole hearts in to this.
or maybe they'll just leave that part up to you
You better check the wording out carefully with a lawyer. Depending on the state you are in the notion of 'extraordinary measures' will mean different things. In some states food and water is considered an extraordinary measure. Some very sick people have found this out, unfortuantely.
Excuse me? Have we spoken before? Or are you one of the pro-death people?
