Quakes generally range from 10KM depth up to 800KM. Naturally, the deeper the rupture, the less the shake is felt up here on the Earth's crust.

LOL this is the funniest thing I have heard since the first time I read about the hollow earth "theory". I'm sorry but there are never any "special" strains that the earth undergoes to hold the moon in orbit. Earthquakes have MUCH more to do with the dynamic, and as far as we know unique to earth system of plate tectonics. Face it, we live on earth that is floating on a sea of magma, and it is not one solid sheet, it's several that rub up against each other, and even push themselves over one another. Every once in a while there are slips and bad things happen.
