I have a bit of a different take on all this. I have listened to Imus for years and continue to do so. I cannot stand him, but I listen because he's got the best morning show on the air in terms of guests (often) and what he (for the most part) discusses.

The ranch represents, for Imus, redemption. He is a self-obsessed, selfish individual who used to worship at the altar of cocaine, alcohol, etc., but now worships at the altar of his tall, blonde, good looking (but not real bright) wife, Dierdre. Together, they will do good deeds together so all their friends will acknowledge how important and wonderful they are.

These "good deeds" give liberals (in their own minds) cover for all the sh*t they do. Imus has merely taken to a new level.

And imagine: his OUTRAGE at the WSJ for looking into this after he has not STOPPED talking about this for a minute in the last 5 years. He is insufferable.

Howard Stern is alot of things, but he is good at exposing pompous show biz types and Imus is exactly that.

Part of what you said could be true, but what harm is done to let the guy run a ranch for kids that are dying. Sure, it's operation is influenced by some of the weird causes his wife has adopted, but overall, I'm sure more good than harm is done on that ranch.

LOL...I also listened to Imus for years, but I finally weaned myself away during the presidential election. I got sick of hearing him say he was voting for Kerry, and that Cheney is a pork-chop sucking war criminal.

I don't think he has the best guests since most of them are NBC, Newsweek, and other media & political liberals. There are a few conservatives on, but I'd rather listen to my local radio station. Imus is so cruel to people that I got angry listening.
