As I recall, the state courts were in Elian's favor, but the Clintonistas got it into federal court somehow and got a federal judge to order that the father was the legal guardian. They used that order to go grab him.

The libs sure know how to use the judiciary to their benefit, eh? And it's pretty much all they have left, so they use it fully.

And the news just came out this week, how Dan Rather's interview with Mr. Gonzalez was orchestrated and handled by Slick's friend/attorney. It all stinks.

They used that order to go grab him. Furthermore, the Clintons only went federal after the Cuban prisoner riot in Louisiana. Originally, Janet Reno was arguing that the Elian affair was a matter for the family courts in Florida. After an uprecedented agreement by Castro to take the prisoners back, Clinton reversed himself and declared the matter to be a federal immigration issue.
