That video is supposed to be monitored by two people at all times.
If those people had been doing their jobs (they were AWOL as far as I can tell), no one would have died.
OMG, you are so right. Where were the people who were SUPPOSE to be monitoring the video!!!!!!!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE.
Check the powdered sugar trail to the Dunkin' Donuts... the officers that didn't do their jobs probably need an administrative review and a letter in their folders.... and then a pay raise, Christmas bonus and retirement benefits.... it's a union thing... ya'll wouldn't understand.
The courthouse in my town has a security room with about 24 video screens and only 2 people to watch it. For years these two people also served as the security info window.
Countless times I've walked past their room and seen both people yaking to a citizen at the window, yaking to other security folks, or simply not even at their station.
The politically correct are murderers!!!!
Dare anyone ask what those two monitors were doing at the time they were supposed to be monitoring.
This is just gross negligence. And .. if I was related to the court reporter, I would be filing a lawsuit against the Sheriff's office.
I'm wondering if Nichols had been in and around the area long enough to have figured out that nobody was watching the area.
And .. secondly, why was a WOMAN in with a MAN who was changing his clothes. I really doubt MEN are allowed to be with WOMEN prisoners when they dress for court ..?? Hmmmm?
Not only that .. wasn't the women officer/guard shot?
No one heard the gun shot?
If those people had been doing their jobs (they were AWOL as far as I can tell), no one would have died.
Amen. Well, Hall would have been a goner though. Don't know if she could have been resuscitated during the extended time she was unattended to. BUT ... she should not have been alone with the suspect, already known to be a violent criminal.
Honestly, this was all preventable.
Let's get the priorities straight. We need to spend money on automatic red light cameras so that we can hammer the traffic violators. An added bonus would be to use the cameras instead of a video that needs to be watched by humans. That way you could automatically generate a profitable ticket with the proof that Mr Nichols was trespassing on the empty cell.

It's not the same country we had in WWII. The make up of its citizenry has changed, continues to change at alarming rates and with alarming consequences. Expect it to get worse before it gets better.
