A couple of disagreements, Fred:

"Since that day a legend grew around it that is reflected in the various version of the Books of the Semitic peoples that is known as the Old Testament of the Bible,"

There is no mention of the Kabba in the Old Testament. The only rock that has any significance, in my memory, is the rock struck by Aaron with his staff to produce water in the desert, unless one considers the implication of a meteorite in the Revelations of John.
Some of you Bible scholars who have easy access to a Bible, please jump in if you disagree.

"In fact the Quran is basically the same book, as the Bible, with modifications made over a period of time, first by Mohammed himself and later by Islam’s many adherents, after Mohammed’s death."

Other than the mention of various prophet's names coinciding with the Old Testament names, there is very little resemblance between the Old Testament and the Quran, and absolutely NO resemblance between the New Testament and the Quran.
The Quran twisted the truths of the Old Testament to fit the sick mind of a pedophilic murderer.

The article was written from the perspective of an Hindu, the site link shows its origin. There are bound to be misconceptions regarding the Old Testament, please feel free to point them out. Mohammad not only plagiarized what he heard from the Hebrews; the koran is a mish-mash of all belief systems that came before, we can forgive the Hindu their confusion I think.
The article I snipped from is interesting in that it describes something of the life of mohammad that is in accordance with the biography written by Canon, Edward Sell. See link to bio in My Page.

Actually, Mo probably heard some distortions of the Bible around Mecca -- note that the central Arabian peninsular was outside the 3 main Empires of that time -- it was not part of the Byzantine (Catholic-Orthodox christian) Empire or the Persian (Zoroastrian) Empire or the Ethiopian-Yemeni (Monophysite Christian) Empire. I believe there were many Arians (who didn't believe in the divinity of Christ) in that area who escaped from Byzantine lands and were not welcome in Persian lands (as Persia had a large Nestorian Christian population). The Koran contains distortions of the Bible and Zoroastrian texts all wrapped up in central Arabian folklore.

Also, though Mo tries to potray Arabic as something divinely created, it's not, rather it is derived from Aramaic with influences from old Ethiopian.
