Oddly enough, one of the reasons cited for the thumbs-down on Williams' song (written by the "South Park" guy who writes the songs) was that it "made fun of Native Americans". Apparently, while making fun of every other cartoon, Pocahontas is off limits.

Both movies cost $100 million to make and if you choose wrong, then you get to be fired and known as the guy who made the "Amish comedy." There's the falicy. Most such little movies are actually very inexpensive to make. You can have several failures and limited markets, and still make money.

It's not enough for these folks to be wealthy (read "overpaid") and famous; they have to have the adulation of the masses at a special awards ceremony. Really! I refuse to participate.
Wow! Think I'm officially a curmudgeon and proud of it.

Not with actors who have international recognition getting $5 million plus. And the fact of the matter is, movies have an extremely low tolerance for failure. That's expecially true now during a boom time. If you want to fail, then you can go to television.

Comedian Robin Williams said it all when he walked on stage with a piece of white tape over his mouth.Okay, if I'd known that was going to happen, I might have watched.

People laughed themselves sick for years without any obscenities. SO true. And in the presence and with the help of good, decent, fun friends, we still do. Just can't expect the arrested-development contingent of the MSM to deliver real wit.

Rock didn't do what he was paid to do, which was to be a host. He insulted the Academy, movies in general, and several actors in particular. He was vulgar ("asses" "sucked"), mean, and abrasive. The show itself pandered shamelessly to Blacks (who is Beyonce and why did she sing THREE songs?!). The Bush-bashing was gratuitous, if predictable. This was the lowest I've ever seen the Oscars go, and that's the year counting Whoopi Goldberg hosted.

Chris Rock, the edgy black comedian"Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy....""Edgy...."
Did Hollywood give these lazy reporters talking points? Cliff notes? I am getting a bit sick of "edgy." Maybe we should mail Reuters, AP, and the New York Times a thesaurus.

I agree.
(who is Beyonce and why did she sing THREE songs?!).
LOL--and who is P. Diddy and why did he present an Oscar?

" So it has gotten to the point that criticizing something is the same as trying to censor it, according to these so-called "tolerant" liberals?"
The libs have been doing this for years. Just like if you suggest that their policies harm America, they accuse you of "questioning their patriotism".
Dobson cannot censor anyone. He is not the government.

No no, I believe you. It was just completely uncanny timing that you posted the answer like 30 seconds before I posted the question.

"This is the most blatant, immature censorship that I've ever come across."
How can a media enterprise censor its own content?
To: Hi Heels; RonDog
In fact, for the first time in my life, I went out and held up a sign stating as much. Right there at Hollywood and Vine. Shut up and act. With Rondog and the rest of the LA Freepers. Felt good.
Good to hear!

If Robin want to take on Dobson; why not do it in another venue. . .like debate him. . .write an editdorial; why throw that out at Academy for 'entertainment', . .
. . .but why as why of these entertainers who imagine themselves accomplished, moral/political analysts. . .
