Rock's bush bashing was a bit more original (and certainly more biting) than the worn out stupid jokes. Whether you find it funny depends on your party registration, I think.

Actually, I write jokes for a living, for radio DJs, so I have to be able to write for all political viewpoints, and I thought the lines he did on Bush were only about a 5 on a 10 scale. They were not funny enough to outweigh the fact that they were wildly inappropriate for the venue. With all that he could have poked fun of about Hollywood and less than 10 minutes to fill, he devoted a third of his monologue to irrelevant Bush-bashing that did nothing but alienate half the audience right at the start of the show. I'm floored that a guy as smart as Chris Rock did something that stupid. And that with so much time to prepare, he didn't have better material.

Actually, there was a poll somewhere where 3/4 Democrats said they were going to watch the show, versus 1/4 of Republicans.

I agree with your assessment. And it's not just Chris Rock - the network and the Awards Show producers had to vet his jokes. They all are in such a sour grapes mode since the election that they wanted to SLAP all the stupid Red Staters in the face.

Chris Rock did that so he would be offered a couple hollywood jobs from his liberal buds for pushing their pathetic views on air. He was disgusting.

Which audience? He immediately got everyone in the theatre and the people who hired him to like his performance.

I actually thought some of it was pretty funny, but then I've always liked Chris Rock.
