Critics don't vote for the Oscars.

So what? Unbelievably she still comes across as the victim not the babies she aborts! Are you sure YOU saw it?

The interesting thing about the Cardinal was the mother died and the baby lived and grew up to look like her mother, but was a happy person, not promiscuous and not a doper.

They implied God made the right decision.

And it wasn't a choice between one or the other, as both could easily have died. It was a decision not to interfere with nature (God's will). Kind of Islamic view point. Kind of an environmentalist view point.

What she does is not glorified at all. I can't put it in simpler terms.

I'm glad you're enjoying the score--too bad it didn't win, but what can ya do? The solo violin passages are really gorgeous. I thought the movie had its good and bad points but the score is a really beautiful work of art on its own; as with many film scores I just make up my own "movie" to go with it.

It's not available on CD, but should you ever come across a screening of the not-good movie Flatliners, listen to James Newton Howard's score over the end credits; it's one of my nominees for Most Beautiful Piece of Film Music. Howard uses a massive choir with the orchestra and creates what I can only call "heavenly" music.

And the Boston accents sucked....

and sean Penn was simply not believable in his role.

The book, on the other hand, was a good read.

Hollyweird is warped, the movies they make now mostly have dark themes, lot's of violence, lots of useless swear words and the gratutitous conservative bashing lines. If it wasn't for Europe Hollyweird would go bust on almost every movie they make.

Yeah, nuns always had a way of scaring you. I went to public school, but attended religious instructions at the church near our house. That was in the 50's. They were tough as nails back then.
