Too bad...Scorsese may be a liberal of some sort (not sure - he doesn't talk about stuff like that too much) but he has been overlooked far too many times...his films far surpass anything that Eastwood has done.

Clint won the Director's Guild Award. That made him a 95% shoo-in to witn the Oscar. It's pretty much the same people voting for both awards.

Eastwood, unlike Marty, knows how to actually bring a picture in on time and on budget. He's a brilliantly spare and careful director. Marty simply doesn't have that discipline.
