I wonder what goes through the minds of the soldiers. At what point do they turn off their hearts and minds to be able to do this stuff?

In the first photo, she is near the truck and already tied. In the second photo the four are away from the truck and the male is still not tied.

Why would they be tied anyway if they are obviously held for the execution?
