The really insane thing about such a worldview is that it insists on believing in a "morality" of some kind or other (in this case, "social justice"). Why can't atheists ever simply say "the heck with everything" and take life easy? Why are the people who claim that our very existence is one gigantic cosmic coincidence always morally incensed about something and trying to remake a world whose very existence is an accident? And this isn't a recent phenomenon, either. Even before Marxism atheists were printing pamphlets advocating things their worldview gave them no basis for advocating. Indeed, I'd say that atheism is not the basis of these people's beliefs (because it doesn't justify their moral crusades). Instead it seems to be merely a part of their general worldview that is based on something else. So the question is, on what does their atheism rest?
I suppose it does no good to point out to these people that by advocating the implementation of their own non-supernaturally-based morality they are in fact "forcing their morality on others," as they constantly accuse us religious fanatics of doing. I suppose the fact that their moral standards are non-supernaturally-derived automatically leads them to assume that their moral beliefs are somehow objective and "scientific."
I'll say it again: even if Communists or liberals were to convince me that there is no G-d (G-d forbid!) and that our world is an accident, I sure wouldn't waste my time running around crusading for "social justice." What kind of fruitcake takes the total meaninglessness of everything as a moral burden???
Their sex drives.
Think about it. The only social causes which can not be tolerated are those that ask us to control our sexual desires. G-d would not be a problem if He hadn't established a proper place for our sexual expression.
The gods who don't care, or even encourage sex, are just fine. Why do you think "The DaVinci Code" is so popular? Just because it attacks the Church? Of course not. It's because it makes Christ a pimp and all of our whoreish behavior not only acceptable, but spiritual.
Shalom.
