I do believe that some-note the qualifier that I used-very intelligent-or at the very least, interesting-FReepers have been unjustifiably exiled from FreeRepublic.

Well .. I've been on a few threads where I didn't recognize any of the posters and I was pounced on for every word I said - in gangland style.
It happens to everybody. I just make a note of their names and I NEVER RESPOND TO ANYTHING THEY SAY. Most of the time they just spew junk in order to make you explode - and then they sit back and watch as the explosion expands and more people come onto the thread and start badmouthing ideas or people, etc.
THIS ISN'T NEW - IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR AS LONG AS F R HAS BEEN HERE.
We cannot be so thin-skinned that we allow disruptors to manipulate us.
I agree with him that a lot of good posters have left. Not all of them; there are still a lot of good posters here.
But, some of the ones I remember best from my time here (registered in 2000) are gone.

Sean specifically mentioned trixie and Clinton's A Liar. I never was clear on why they were booted, but I recall them as good FReepers. Apparently, they're friends of Sean's.

Silliness. Ya know, I've been on this Forum since October of '98, so I remember the "old heads".
Many........not all, but many........of that now-departed crew who are held up by some as these wonderfully insightful posters were merely full of themselves; self-indulgent to a fault.
There were a few that I miss, but all in all.........egos got WAAAAAAAAAY out of whack. It's a damned Internet site, fercryinoutloud. Don't know how many times I had to remind such people of that back in the day.
No, there are many, many outstanding posters here on FR and there always will be. I'll take the "new crop" over the old "HEAR me, people, and REVEL in my brilliance" crew any day of the week.
