Way to go Jim. The 'Arm Chair Quarterbacking' was starting to get a little oppressive. Thanks for weighing in.
So, unless I missed it, if all the angst was a thing of the past, why debase the site now? He must know that every hack wanna be anchorman in MSMville is trying to undermine our credibility, purely out of fear. I've never thought that Hannity was a bad guy, goofy and a bit short on details, but not malicious.
I didn't understand why he said what he did and I really don't understand why everyone's being so nice to him now. There may be some heated (and maybe overheated) exchanges - I've been in a couple of 'em myself - but they're free exchanges, and the undeniable fact is, the researchers on this site are always at least a day ahead of every MSM out there, and that very much includes the entire cast of Fox News.
Agreeing with you too. I'm in this for the long haul.
Sean is an awesome guy, and I enjoy his show. I still don't know why he chose to promote his own message board and attack this one at the same time. Why not just promote your own board? He's right conservatives shouldn't be fighting with each other, but he started it with that comment. He should just let it go and move on.
REMEMBER THIS? STILL WAITING.
From Fox News Report Hannity and Colmes program, William La Jeunesse said; "Shawn, what I want to say, this was brought under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. There was and amendment to the forest plan in the Pacific Northwest United States that applied to Washington, Oregon, Idaho. Not just this forest, and what it says and I am quoting right now "If helicopter operations must take place, quote, "within a Riperian habitat conservation area, (that is a stream,) AN EXEMPTION MUST BE GRANTED BY A RESOURCE ADVISOR, (thats a biologist,) with the advoidence of adverse effects to listed species as a primary goal."
If you're taking flak, you're over the target!
Bombs away!
ROFL!
I agree that he is a great American and does further the conservative cause but his show sucks. He has said that he learns from constructive criticism but I haven't seen any sign of it. I don't listen often but when I do it's still the same old stuff.
He needs to quit talking about himself and the endless promos about his show(H&C) and all his 'good friends' I may listen more.
He is so boring I can only listen for a few minutes. It's Medved for me.
Sean, wake up and quit the constant promos.
Ditto... Sean is outstanding!
Sean - You are a putz. But, let not your heart be troubled.
We've got a full slate of the Vast-Rightwing-Conspiracy on the radio at work and Sean's show is part of the day as is Rush and Tony Snow. Lucky for us all of them are on "Live" and for their entirety as well...
Bottom line...I enjoy listening to Sean's program and had the chance to see him at a local book signing a couple years back and I find him to be very knowledgable, entertaining, and honest. There's been few days since the '00 elections that I've missed the radio line-up at work or H&C on FoxNews.....there's also been very few days since then that I haven't been here on FreeRepublic either, the wealth of information here is staggering!! I'm positive that there are more than a few radioshow hosts that come here for their "show prep"...alot of what I see written here or linked here come up on the airwaves throughout the day!
Mr. Jim Robinson, I agree with your first post to Sean..."We Love You Buddy. You're a great American" but I also throw that compliment your way....what you've done here with this site is truly amazing!!!!!
I agree!
IMHO...El Rushbo needs to make a surprise appearence at the EIB HQ in midtown Manhattan and take Sean aside and have a little chat with him.
Maybe remind him about not whizzing on your core audience.
As usual, you're leading by example. Keep up the good work, Jim!
Jim and Sean, You're both great Americans!
To late, Hannity. I never liked your TV show anyway. Further, you are becoming more and more pompous, an ugly trait I don't like in folks.
Somewhere about 2 years ago, a guy called Hannity and pointed out, correctly, that some FED action or other (prescrip drugs, I believe) was unconstitutional because of the enumeration. Hannity, the moron, had clearly never even heard of the enum. and began ridiculing the guy. Hannity was broadcasting live from FLA, if that jogs your memory. "Oh, yeah? I suppose the EPA is unconstitutional, and Social Security, too?" Hannity asked, dripping w/sarcasm while exposing his own ignorance, because, of course, those programs ARE unconstitutional because of the enum. I called him later and said, "OK, slicko, you should read FED PAPERS x, y, z, d, and f to get an education." He said, and you could hear the fear in his voice, "Why don't you just tell me what I'm gonna find there?" I started to explain, and the second I said the word "enumeration", the coward hung up. Clearly, his brain worked like this, "I don't know what this caller is talking about, he seems not to be an idiot, I might learn something, thus exposing the fact that I don't know EVERY SINGLE THING IN THE WORLD, (as if that were a sin) so I better hang up. Never mind that I could actually learn something." One week later, the great genius actually had the nerve to lecture another caller about how we used to have this thing called the enumeration. Bottom line: if you are the face of conservatism, and you make a quadrillion dollars per year with a radio AND tv show, don't you think you should know about ART 1, SEC 8?????

Hannity calls freerepublic a childish fringe site.

I suspect that Hannity's comments may have precisely the opposite effect as intended.
A lot of people may just drop by FR out of curiosity, never having heard of it before Hannity's comments. They will decide for themselves whether it is worth staying (either as a lurker or a participant).
Mr. Robinson, I have a question and a favor please. I suspect that your WEB programs have the ability to track WEB page hits as well as those who join FR. Therefore, the rate of joins and hits could be plotted vs. time. I would love to see these plots, over a time scale of a few weeks, centered around Hannity's comments. It would be interesting to see if there were a correlation.
A final comment. Immediately after the Bush re-election, there was a thread of those who were FReepers and had voted for Bush, along with our credentials. There were scientists, professors, Ph.Ds, engineers, businesspeople, Medical Doctors,... just about every possible profession you can imagine. And the credentials were extraordinary. The simple fact is that the FR community is pretty da** well educated and accomplished.
And the simple fact is that most of us are a da** site more educated and accomplished than Sean Hannity.
