Many bishops go against the authority of the Pope. The Pope cannot control many of those apostate bishops.

What happens if a priest goes against the will of such a bishop (but with the will of the Pope?)

I disagree, the Pope and Cardinals can censure any Bishop that goes against the teachings of the Church.

The Curch is finally starting to defrock the priests who have been convicted of child molestation. I don't see why he can't defrock a Bishop, if the Bishop is going against the Church's teachings.

I know that many bishops go against the Pope. In 1961 the Vatican said that homosexuals should not become priests. SOME bishops (not all) and SOME seminaries went against the Vatican, and look what happened.

Perhaps the U.S. Conference of Bishops could control bishops that go against the Pope's teachings, or a particular bishop's Cardinal or his head bishop. I don't know all the answers, but wouldn't you think?
