Thank you for your reply!

Is the "list of links" - or a url to them - always posted when you ping people to science threads? If not, it might be helpful to post a "newcomer's welcome" on your usual ping...

On the list of three causes for revisiting, I only have a recommendation for the third:

3. Some (new or old) who insist that their interpretation of scripture trumps physical evidence.

When the issue turns to Spiritual matters on a science thread, it is better to lay down the cards and walk away rather than continue. The reason is because in the eyes of a Christian (I am one, obviously) - reality is God's will and unknowable in its fullness. Therefore, Truth trumps facts. Every time. It serves no purpose to argue to the contrary.

However, a big however, it is quite useful to make all such arguments on a theological/philosophy thread. Metaphysical naturalism v. various doctrines of Christianity, etc.

Here's the question I have. My topic of interest is not in debunking evolution or proving ID. My argument is focused on those who see evolution and the Bible being compatible. Either you believe the Bible which in terms of time, order of events, and method of creation are totally incompatible with evolution. If you see the Bible as worthless or just a book written be men with no divine inspiration, than the argument is not directed at you.

From a logical standpoint, I see this as a valid discussion. If the Bible says 2 + 2 = 5 and math says 2 + 2 = 4, than the Bible believers will say 5 till their blue in the face, however it is illogical to assert that they are both true or compatible. That is the heart of the issue.

It's way too long to post. The entire list would probably occupy about 7 or 8 screens, and if I posted it I would correctly be accused of spamming. (No one wants to behave like Medved/Ted Holden.)

The list is kept at my freeper homepage for all to see, and it's mentioned in my tagline whenever I post -- although most people probably don't notice it. That's the best I can do. But I often post a link or two in response to someone's comments.
