Boy, do I remember that play. Jackie Smith was a terrific tight end. He spent almost all of his career with the Cardinals, giving the Cowboys major headaches every time he played them. That's the sad part of sports. His entire NFL legacy, after a brilliant career is one dropped pass. Of course, the fact that it was a sure touchdown and the Cowboys had to settle for a field goal, and the final Steeler victory margin was 4 didn't help. I just hope he didn't turn into Ray Finkle.
As long as the Patriots respect them it doesn't matter.
The full package..nice lookin' kid!
Last thing you wanna do is make him mad ;-)
Oh well, it Philly, go ahead and make him mad.
He takes a lot of grief but what about Randy White's fumble on the kickoff?
Gibbs gets a more subtle respect. He's not a flamboyant figure, but as a longtime Cowboys fan, I can tell you, we KNOW how good Gibbs is. I think Gibbs accomplishments are particularly impressive when you consider that he never had great players. He had a lot of good players, but Riggins, for example, is seldom mentioned among the all-time great running backs (I think he's probably underestimated a bit, also). But Gibbs, like you said, won three Super Bowls, without doing it like most coaches, who built one team and were able to hold it together for a decade. He made tremendous use of role players, and really redefined offensive line philosophy.
He won a Super Bowl with Mark Rypien as his quarterback. That's all you need to know how good a coach he was/is.
And we are glad to have him back. The last couple of games the Skins were starting to look like a team, hopefully Joe will them back to where they were when he left. Now, if we could just do something about the owner...
The Redskins defense was really coming on. Gibbs just needs to get that offense going.
I really like their chances this year, I heard on the plane last week that Gus Frerotte had expressed an interest in returning to Washington..
How silly of me. I always assumed you were a Phoenix Phan.
John Elway, after living a full life, died.
When he got to heaven, God was showing him around.
They came to a modest little house with a faded Broncos flag in the window.
"This house is yours for eternity, John," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." John felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.
On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner.
It was a 3-story mansion with a Green & White & Silver sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous EAGLES logo flag, and in every window, an Eagles emblem.
John looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 2 Super Bowls, and I even went to the Hall of Fame." God said "So what's your point John?" "Well, why does Donovan McNabb get a better house than me?" God chuckled, and said "John, that's not Donovan's house, it's mine."
GO EAGLES !
I think Gibbs main concern is getting that offensive line up to his standards. I doubt he'll be able to put together another "Hogs" but that's where I bet his focus will be this off season.
Actually the name Cardinal has nothing to do with sports or the fact I live in Saint Louis now. It was the name of the character in Clancys "Cardinal in the Kremlin". It was one of my favorite books. The only time I ever pulled for the Cardinals was when they played the Cowboys in the playoffs a few years back!
The high point of Jake Plummer's NFL career thus far.
Easily remedied by convincing Hanifan back to Washington..
I think Gibbs used this past season to figure out what kind of team he had. Not that he wasn't trying to win this year but now he knows which players can play and those that can't.
Owens will start practicing and hear those bones crunch while he's running routes and realize he won't be playing. Vince Wilfork, the "big fatty" on our line, could cover TO.
Or when he sees Pinkston drops a pass because he hears the footsteps of 7 Patriots Defensive Backs..
