No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage
Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.
"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.
No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.
Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

Maybe they should have got Stryper so all the GOP Jesus freaks would have been happy. Hey. The punchline is good except for the term Jesus Freak. Now if you said "Don Wildmon" censorship loving freedom grabbing control freaks, I'd agree.

Great. Thanks a lot. Now we all look like a bunch of intolerant old fuddy duddies.
Way to go.
Notice they said "conservatives", so we all got painted with this brush. Just what I wanted.
BTW, this isn't directed at you, areafiftyone. :)

According to WorldNetDaily.com, conservatives are furious that Rock has been selected to headline a youth concert as part of the festivities surrounding Bush's second inauguration on January 20.It has never been announced by the committee that he was ON the list.

What's this about Laura Bush?
To: Mad Mammoth
C'mon people, Kid Rock released a song about pimping BARBARA BUSH, defend THAT, ok? Fair enough, after the Bush twins' comedy routine at the GOP convention.

LOL.
One classic rock station in existence is right. Different call letters in every town but always the same station.
The drive by truckers are a current act...shh, might have to listen to a college station to hear them.

I think this was an entire story manufactured by WNDI hadn't thought of that but it makes sense and is true to form.

Thee old fuddy duddies have won. Kid Rock is sort of a later day Johnny Cash. He pushes but his heart is in the right place.
I would not have invited him in the first place... but having invited him I would not have un-invited him.

I am not defending his lyrics.
I simply think it is stupid to invite and then dis-invite Kid Rock. It is disrespectful.
I also think it would be wrong for some outside group to pressure a private inaugural party. Are we talking about the "main" event or some side party funded by a private groups?
To: Howlin
It may very well be. I certainly wouldn't be surprised, anyway.
I hope they like trying to splinter the GOP, because that seems to be what they are after.

Secretary of the Interior James "A black, a woman, two Jews and a cripple" Watt once banned the Beach Boys from some official performance at or near the White House. Unfortunately for him, Nancy Reagan loved the Beach Boys and he had to backpedal faster than Dan Rostenkowski from a gaggle of angry seasoned citizens.
Obviously, some of Kid Rock's material isn't suitable for prime time or for an inaugural. As long as he was willing to keep the R-rated stuff out, I wouldn't have had a problem with him performing. We have to remember that the current generation of yoots learned about vulgar behavior from BJ Clinton.
To: Dan from Michigan
I dont remember.. It was being talked about on Hannity the other day.. something about pimping Laura Bush.
