"Someone refresh my memory-was it Massachusetts where a prominent politician suggested that if you discover a burglar in your home you should flee your home and let the police handle it?" Don`t know about that but prominent politicians driving off bridges while drunk have special exclusions when a death results.

if you discover a burglar in your home you should flee your home and let the police handle it?That was Dukakis. And that's not anecdotal, I lived in Mass at the time and remember the uproar it caused.
As for New Bedford, isn't that Barney's district?
It was a Portugese fishing town in the 80's but was fast being overrun by illegals and Columbians, with a big coke trade.

Only then can you use lethal force (assuming of course, that the local police chief has granted your application for a gun license based on his determination that you have a "legitimate need.")

was it Massachusetts where a prominent politician suggested that if you discover
a burglar in your home you should fleeWouldn't be surprised.
That is the state where a prominent politician discovered a pregnant
girlfriend in his sinking car so fled and let the police handle it the next day.
