Open letter to Freepers

It appears that I owe you an explanation too. Just something simple that any vet would understand. First of all, anyone who has seen any type of combat has morphed into a different person. I think that that should be obvious. Slangy, as you put it, is one of many styles that grunts use to express themselves. Tell me that, after having seen the murdered bodies of innocent Iraqi civilians that dreamt of a better future for their country, that you could wax poetic about any topic, much less the topic of the depth of inhumanity that I have borne witness too.
After the attack at Marez, I did not feel the need to be articulate or well spoken. I was angry, not in a personal manner for the injury visited upon myself, but for the brave ones who were struck down in such a cowardly manner, and fir the vultures who profit form our tragedy.
I realize that you are probably more versed in literature or grammar that I am but you should probably keep in mind human nature before you become to critical.

Marty. Perhaps it is because of what happened here on FR with the sick individual that visited us not long ago, but also what happened to both of us while serving that caused me pause. The things we witnessed, those we knew who we lost and the things that happened to those we worked on, that makes me so protective of our troops. That includes you too now Marty.

We didn't have the Internet back then. So it's hard to imagine going to a computer after a fire fight or a bombing and telling what happened. Shell shock happens in all wars. But I appreciate you telling us first hand of the events in a way that only you could tell it.

If the Internet is your outlet good for you. Just remember, when you speak on the Internet, you can be read by many people, and you represent a lot of people in the military. So in your language and in your thoughts, you're speaking for a lot of people whether you mean to or not. Things you say about a certain population of Iraqi's could be used against our military in Iraq. Caution is the better part of VALOR friend. We have a saying here "Loose lips sink ships". I'm sure you'd hate to find out that something you said here, harmed a brother or sister in Iraq. Something to think about.

I don't buy that all "grunts" speak slang. We've been around military our whole lives. (Read our profile). Today's forces are some of the finest, most intelligent people we've had the honor to know. There are none matching them in the world. Some do speak trash. But they by no means represent the majority of the men and women in the armed forces. Since the voluntary forces came to be, we find the military of today to be the most intelligent, articulate force we've ever had.

We both pray you heal fast and that you get to come home soon.
