HARRISBURG, PA-The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and attorneys with Pepper Hamilton LLP filed a federal lawsuit today on behalf of 11 parents who say that presenting "intelligent design" in public school science classrooms violates their religious liberty by promoting particular religious beliefs to their children under the guise of science education.
"Teaching students about religion's role in world history and culture is proper, but disguising a particular religious belief as science is not," said ACLU of Pennsylvania Legal Director Witold Walczak. "Intelligent design is a Trojan Horse for bringing religious creationism back into public school science classes."
The Rev. Barry W. Lynn, Americans United Executive Director, added, "Public schools are not Sunday schools, and we must resist any efforts to make them so. There is an evolving attack under way on sound science...Read More

You are probably right. So would I. The Christian home-schooled kids would probably win.
However, that does not prove that ID is right. It proves that in general home schooled kids are better educated.
However, consider. In my community, which is a laboratory town, we have lots of Christian home-schooled kids. And their Moms or Dads happen to be Ph.D scientists. And they are NOT taught ID or creationism. (I know, because I know many of them personnally). They are taught religion at home. And separately, they are taught science.
Be careful of what?
You just admitted the public schools suck.
Of course they suck! But I'm not sure I agree with you when you say the evolutionists here would like for the public schools to go the way of the dodo. That would mean the END of the evolutionist monopoly over a large chunk of our kids. Unless, that is, the "Reverend" Barry Lynn has plans to force the teaching of evolution, and only evolution, on the private schools and homeschoolers of America. Maybe he does. I wouldn't bet against it.
you know what, I evolved when I had to listen to this garbage. I went from a motivated A+++ student to an unmotivated, sleeping slacker. But I still got an A. All you had to do was reiterate the tripe on the tests....
Not a thing. It is my belief that creationists are attempting to have their religious beliefs taught as science in government schools, by any means (including the "stealth mode" of creationism, ID) possible, exactly as fundamentalists (from whose ranks most creationists spring) are attempting to have prayer returned to schools.
They can most certainly teach their beliefs to their own children. I object to them wishing to teach them to MINE. In effect, they are attempting to proselytize to children, as you so well admitted.
"and since evolution is something that also must be accepted totally on faith..."
Sorry, you lose. The TOE has multiple lines of evidence, from many different sciences, in its support, as well as observed laboratory experiments backing it up, a fact which you would be aware of if you had studied the matter well.
ID/creationism cannot make anything like this claim. Almost by definition, there is no concrete evidence for a Creator. That's why a belief in such is called a "faith".
I do find it amusing that, in your effort to denigrate the TOE, you smear it as "religion". Obviously you agree that religions do not have corroborating scientific evidence and are based largely on faith.
I assure you, the TOE does not fall into this category.
Yo.....momma......is......so......dumb......she............studied.......for......a.....blood......test....
Sorry, but both are supported by faith alone. Evidence, logic other sciences? Good luck in finding the support. The scientific method? Well let me see -- Step 1 Observation - Step 2 Hypothesis Step 3 Prediction and Step 4 Experimentation and Step 5 Analysis Step 6 Verification. Well, let's start at Observation - and we have seen what evolve into what?
You're right. If the Christian homeschooled kids beat the public schooled kids (and I think they would) it wouldn't **prove** ID is correct. Nothing can prove either ID or evolution to be correct.
You left something out. Science it mutable. It evolves. Theories are proven or disproven, the body of knowledge increases, scientists push onward and upward, etc. etc.
Do religious people really want to put their belief system into the arena of science, where everything is on the table and constantly being questioned?
I just can't help thinking how cool it would sound on a wave filed: Stephen Hawking Talks Trash About Yo Momma
(I'm going to hell for that, I just know it)
I'm pinging just about every Evo I know, just so we can both ask them their opinion on government schools. You will probably be surprised at the responses.
Like I said, "Be careful"...accepting the validity of the TOE as an explanation of the diversity of life does NOT equal "Leftist".
What I meant with the "Be Careful" was, the homeschooled students would likely be ahead in math and basic English and grammar, as well as history. You would, however, assuming that you taught them creationism exclusively, be beginning them with a fundamental lack of understanding of how science works, of the nature of evidence, the true meaning of the terms "Theory", "Law", and "Hypothesis". You would also be destroying any sense of skepticism which is quite necessary for future scientific inquiry and advancement.
I agree. You are correct.
However, we can prove that Evolution is science and ID and creationism are not. (see my post #78).
And, since the issue is what we teach in schools, ID should not be taught.
Welcome to the crevo threads. :-)
Yo....momma....is....so....dumb....she.....sold.....the....car.....for....gas.....money.......
ROFL! :-)
Have they ever, in the history of both man AND religion, wanted this?
Even though this is one of the more odd threads I have been on.
Let me see, once upon a time all the mass of the universe was highly highly compressed in this very tiny dense piece of mass and one day it exploded in a big bang and all the bits and pieces flew out and billions of years later, soups began to form on some of those chunks and things in the soups gradually changed and formed objects and miraculously some of the objects in those soups became alive and changed some more and came out of the soups on to dry land and here we are. Ok so I have 'faith' that in the beginning, God..... And what you believe has no 'faith' associated with it? A faith that in the beginning, a rock...? And this preponderance of evidence would be...?
