I was told that using Scripture was not allowed, why would you of all people care about the 'soul' anyway?
The test has been given every time Scripture is given, guess what you either can't read or you failed.

You know what, I don't care what others say about the test at this point. If you need to reference scripture for it, fine. Do so, present the references from scripture for the test of a 'soul'.
However, if your test requires that I assume the scripture to be truthful and accurate beforehand, the test will be invalid.

I would think that most biological scientists would be very interested in finding scientific evidence for the existence of the soul. It would probably lead to immense fame, Nobel prizes, wealth, etc.
