Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule. For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a federal matter now. . . .

We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot, my soul please take!

I can't believe parents were offended. Doesn't this principal have the first amendment right to say it??? Just because some parents were offended? Hell, I'm offended by stuff I hear all day, but I don't expect people to step down from their positions because of it.

I believe that the Principal was exercising his right to free speech. I think it was rather clever.

Praying is against the rule.

That means I'm not allowed to say, "Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen"

I'm not a religious man, but I thought that was very funny. Good on him.

Anyone who beefs about this "prayer" is a complete a**hole. This thing is funny and right on the money. Whoever is "offended" by it is offended by America itself. Go suck an egg, whining leftist babies!

You must remember that Athens, GA is the home of the University of Georgia and is a liberal hellhole in the middle of a good state like GA. Those REM scumbags hail from here.

"Great! No reason to apologize."

That he had to apologize moves the poem from being satire to reality.

Democratic orthodoxy has become matter of religious faith and, IMHO, should be banned by voters from the nation's capitals.
