Wickham, who has covered the NAACP for nearly 30 years, quoted Mfume in his column as saying: "I came to the organization at a time when it was in crisis, and I'm confident that I'm leaving an organization now that is strong and stable."

More like he's getting out due to the heat from the commetns and actions from those like Bond

So who's going to replace him?

NAACP chairman Julian Bond said the investigation stems from a July speech he gave that was critical of President Bush. Tax-exempt organizations are required to remain nonpartisan.

you wouldnt expect someone to ENFORCE the rules now would we? /sarcasm

A proper replacement would be Fidel Castro.

Kweisi Mfume once had mainstream support from Americans.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People should change its name to the National Association for the Advancement of Liberalized, Disenfranchised Americans. Furthermore, retain Mfume, fire the rest, and adopt a conservative platform.

The other option would be to replace Mfume with Sharpton to reflect the lazy Donkey that the once prideful Stallion, the NAACP, has become.

His real name is Frizzle Gray.

Kweisi Mfume, US politician and civil rights activist; Frizzell Gray (Baltimore, Maryland 24 October 1948).
Changed his name in the 70s; "It's West African. I did it at a time when my life was changing tremendously.
My great-aunt suggested it. She said, "Kweisi means 'conquering' and Mfume means 'son of kings.' "

He had a rap sheet in Baltimore longer than your arm as well.

Isn't U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Commissioner Mary Frances Berry going to be in the streets pretty soon?

Hey, the NAACP could use the "kinder, gentler" touch that Berry would bring...*BARF!*

I wouldn't put this beyond them, though...

Probably no connection but I see where Tavis Smiley is leaving NPR.

Let's see, why should I care about what happens to the NAACP?

Mfume realizes that what Julian Bond did to GW Bush has set American Blacks back to the dark ages. The NAACP has no political power whatsoever. Being Black, liberal and Democrat ain't where it's at!!!! Mfume saw the handwriting on the wall and either got out or was pushed out by Bond, the lunatic left-wing "traitor" Democrat!!! Blacks better wake up and get with the program. They are going down fast!!! Both the Congessional Black Caucus and the NAACP have been reduced to social and meeting clubs, that's all!! And....I must say American Blacks did this to themselves!!!

Rumors in Maryland that he will run for Senate in '06. Sarbanes is 71 and hasn't announced his intentions. Could pit him against Lt. Gov. Michael Steele.

We know about the IRS rules that he's been allowed to violate, but I wonder what else he's into. The liberals are always the worst offenders of whatever they're complaining about. If he's anything like Jesse Jackass, he's got at least one mistress and a few illegitimate kids running around. When you're the man, you don't have to obey annoying rules.
