Yes. This type of aircraft has no place in the modern battlefield and Foreseeable conflicts. The money could be put into more usefull sistems (each unit cost about $235 million for 239 planes) Whats your opinion?

He'll eventually go away.I would expect that if he truly is a Chi-com, he will die for his performance tonight. And I'm not happy with that.
I figure him for a 1st LT or Capt. His english gave him away.
He could have been an asset to a free country.
I continue my prayers for a free China.

The F22 will probably:
Replace the F-15C in the air dominance mission, replace the F16J in the SEAD mission (more survivable), support or replace the F-15E in the heavy strike mission (equiv. payload), replace the F-117 in the precision stealth strike role with a greater variety of munitions options, fill the gap left by the retirement of the EF-111 in the electronic warfare mission, and supplement the U-2 and UAVs in the recon and data collection missions.

I agree. America faces a stark choice in the coming year. The bills of the entitelment programs need to be paid, and the military should continue to be hable to confront the threats with succes.
The F-22 program was initiated in 1981 to meet the evolving threat posed by the next generation of Soviet aircraft.
The F-22 is good platform to hunt and destroy other aircraft, yet till now our current stable of AA defenses has been able to the job very effectively. In my view, we should continue use our limited resources to build upon our current capabiliets and other more urgent systems and not on a wild goose chase. On plane ment for a bygone era.

It does seem odd that you ask for evidence while avoiding acknowledging that your positions on modern day gifts have no Scriptural evidence at all.

I like the F-22. I think they should develop zeppelins.
Hmmm, how about huge Zeppelin aircraft carriers? Sort of like in the movie "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" although I rememer seeing a similar idea used in one of the 1960's era "Spiderman" TV episodes. It was where an old World War I German Ace went around with such a thing where he would use it to launch his fleet of biplanes armed with lasers to terrorize 1960's era New York City. I always found Zeppelins to be cool in an "alternate history, Steampunkish way," but I know in reality, they would make great targets although they are still used to patrol the sea lanes for drug smugglers and make excellent radar platforms. I guess my role playing "geekness" is showing. B-)
Seriously, we do need to stay in the forefront of technology. If a jet fighter was a like a car to me, I would take anything that "has four wheels and runs" or in the case of the subject, "a jet engine or two and some weapons." I think we can spare some cash to outfit some units with F-22's, God knows what can happen in the future although I'd still keep the F-15's, 16's, and 18's flying as well as if we get in a crunch to bring back even older planes like the F-4's out of the boneyard with more updated electronics as a cost saving measure. I think tere is such a plan if the worst would happen.
Still though, we need to keep up with the rest of the world, I'm sure the F-15 can handle the newest the Russians and the French would have but we need to keep that edge too. One of my favorite planes in history was the Avro Arrow, for the late 1950's, it was 30 years ahead of its time in some cases but the Canadian government blew it. The Raptor is one fine plane from what I know about it but we can't ignore the hefty price tag either but I don't want us to fall down the same path as the Canadians did with the Arrow 40 years ago either. So until we see how things begin to gel out, we need to take a middle of the road approach.

And that's just
one thin line of options available
among the more mundane, conventional and . . . somewhat boring platforms available.

Actually, Quix is saying we are 50 years ahead (of course, considering it's alien technology, how does he know?).
I understood that you weren't really agreeing with him.

I saw that piece with Greta Van Sustern. I know nothing about the F-22 but I did save some pix because it was very impressive.

America should ALWAYS have the world's best technology, AND America should ALWAYS have multiple varieties of the best technology, each with different capabilities.
Providing warfighters the very best with a range of capabilities is the best way to insure optimal defense of this nation.
It isn't as if we had any real friends in this world. (Besides, what good is a tech inferior friend?)

The Chinese can do some pretty stupid things.
I'm not at all convinced that they do more stupid things than we do.
They also have plenty of very creative geniuses.
The cream of the crop from 1.2 billion people is a
LOT MORE
than the cream of the crop from 300,000,000 million people.
We discount Chinese genius and creativity at our peril.
