Dear Mr. Secretary:
America most certainly has an obligation to see that regime change takes place in Tehran. Why?
Because it was due to America that the mullahs, led by their murderous leader the Assahollah Khomeini, took OVER Iran in the FIRST place, when the 39th occupant of the White House (aka Jimmy Fuqin' Carter) stabbed the Shah of Iran (remember him General? A solid U.S. ally?) in the back, allowing the Islamofascists to seize power, which led to the FIRST instance of Jihad-minded Muslim fanatics taking over a modern nation-state, from which they sponsored and financed terror operations across the globe TO THIS VERY DAY!
Because of Jimmy Carter's betrayal of the Shah, the Iranian people were sentenced to more than 25 years (as of this date) of repression, torture, Islamic excesses and the diversion of their nation's wealth away from the people and focused on the acquisition of nuclear weapons.
We OWE the Iranian people their freedom, just as we owe the Cuban people their freedom for allowing Fidel Castro to maintain his Communist dictatorship for 45 years, 90 miles from our shores. Both situations are a disgrace and we can thank Democratic presidents for both of them (Kennedy and Carter).

I'm wondering how it was that Carter 'stabbed the Shah in the back'? Not arguing mind you- just not familiar with this piece of the story. Wouldn't surprise me tho.
