So when folks like Howlin and others lable us "nutjobs" and "extremists" what does that make them? And when they LIE about us, then what?
The platform says many things and we all know the purpose of a platform. I want to know when Bush said that he'd work in THIS TERM to overthrow Roe v. Wade. It's just a simple question.
What if the GOP had reverted to lip service for votes??
In the not so distant future, the possibility exists, it appears, that we could be talking candidly about how GOP smokescreens were set up to create the appearance of being pro-life, whilst holding a King Arlen up their sleeve.
Unless the GOP's highest leadership is in the habit of 'midguiding' prominent national Christians during the campaign...
All what ifs at this point - but remember how clever the Rove GOP (think Alberto Gonzalez) was regarding CFR! /s
This thread has been very interesting to follow, especially because it's an old argument that hasn't seen the light of day in a long while. It's good to be reminded again of where we all stand on the basic issues.
Glad to be back a bit more.
ROFLMAO.
In a word, no.
And as I said up the thread, you "real, true conservatives" haven't managed to come up with a candidate who can WIN so you need US for ACCESS to the POWER.
Or spokescuckoo... Hildy really seems to have this THING about keeping Roe intact
"and we all know the purpose of a platform."
Really? Tell us then, is it to trick foolish Catholic voters into supporting the GOP even though Specter will protect abortion? A simple question Hildy, what IS the purpose of the GOP platform?
Oh, please. In your dreams.
In a word, no.

Ok, now I have to question your sanity/memory.
What planet or rock have you been on the last few years?
We've delivered nothing BUT victories, save Alan Keyes - a train accident that couldn't get going...a good man, but not called to win in Illinois (IMO).
I learned some time ago, the hard way, not to give personal information to your crowd.
I guess the term nutjob and extremist comes to mind easily enough for me.
Which candidate has the extreme right produced that won the presidency?
Pat Buchanan?
Wasn't Pew research one of the ones who misjudged the outcome of the election?
Nevertheless, the Kansas City Star says the Pew information confirms that more Catholics and Evangelicals turned out and more of them voted for the President:
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/nation/10122797.htm
""Catholics represent about a quarter of the electorate, or about 31 million voters this year, and Bush had aggressively courted them, particularly in battleground states.
The president got a noticeable boost from white Catholics, whose support rose to 56 percent from 52 percent four years ago. He also did better among Hispanic Catholics, who turned out in larger numbers and gave Bush 44 percent of their vote, up from 35 percent in 2000.
Because turnout rose overall this year, analysts were not concluding that the Catholic help nationally was the decisive difference for Bush. About 80 percent of white evangelicals went for the president, delivering him about 20.6 million votes, or about 1.3 million more than in 2000.
Catholics are hardly a monolithic bloc. Catholics who said they did not attend Mass weekly - and who outnumbered observant voters - preferred Kerry, 50 percent to 49 percent.""
I'll let you in on a little secret... there's something called a freeper home page... that's not a California flag that EV is flying there...
Exactly what I said up the thread; all across the boards between 5 and 9 percent per demographic.
About 80 percent of white evangelicals went for the president, delivering him about 20.6 million votes, or about 1.3 million more than in 2000.
If that number is right, and since Bush is honing in on 62,000,000 votes, that's less than a third; hardly a "mandate" from which Evangelicals can demand anything.
Well, he WAS living in D.C. not long ago. I suppose he's one of the GOP "insiders" who brought Keyes to Illinois? I never knew that!
The President only has *this term.*
Unlike you, I supported all the pro-life Republican candidates...in other words almost all of them across the USA.
So I would say that my candidates won.
Unlike you, we maintain a large measure of loyalty, even though the left wing of the party has no such scruples.
And your reference to power is a telling one. Like most of your type, power is about the only thing that might move you. And even that sometimes won't overcome your bitterness towards conservatives.
No Howlin...it was bobdole...
(bobdole voice)
"Uh-huh...ahhh, abortion in the GOP platform?
Uhhhh, what GOP platorm?"
[chuckles with the RAT media follow; the next sound you hear is bobdole's campaign going down the crapper]
