Clearly the registered voters in each town match the sum of the total registered voters in each ward, but the number of votes cast in each town is often far higher than the sum of each ward. Oakwood is particularly bad; they claim 7099 votes cast, but the ward totals sum only to 1639.
They need to explain this. I don't believe 4/5 of the ballots were cast absentee, particularly since there were nearly 3 times as many votes cast as registered voters.
So 8395 voted on a property tax levy, usually a big issue, and 22931 voted in Orange CSD. 11640 are registered according to the BOE website. That's about 72% turnout (tax levy votes/registered voters). Respectable % of the vote.
(8395/22931) (tax levy votes/total votes Orange CSD) only 36% of voters would vote on a property tax levy issue? Even in a low home ownership district, that sounds odd.
The tax levy says 25 of 25 districts reporting. We'll have to wait and see on this one.
