If the kids can be enticed away from their X-Boxes and Playstation 2 for long enough to do some actual work, earth can be converted to a sun-independent interstellar Winnebago.

Do you read Alan Dean Foster?

The thing is, we wouldn't know what an untampered-with universe would look like, so the trick is to formulate the laws of nature without being able to see the universe "in the raw."

Therein likes the trickiness. :)

If someone is engineering the universe, it will likely involve the maniupulation of fundamental physical quantities over vast scales, so that to we uneduacted hicks on Earth, it will look like it's supposed to be that way.

You could be right. The intent of the research is to identify evidence or proof of other conscious beings in the Universe. I extrapolated that to control of the universe.

On a smaller scale, say a solar system in our galaxy, it would require asking different questions about the data that includes the possibility of interdiction by conscious beings.

Well .. since these are the pinheads who never read the Bible .. they're off by at least 25 billion years.

If the world has even 10 years, I'll be shocked.

Brace yourself for a big shock. The end of the world has been predicted countless times. I suspect that your prediction will, in due course, be added to this long woeful list:
Library of Date setters for end of the world!

Your reply is most interesting. You may be right. Certainly if the terrorist have their way. Most will be dead the remainder will be converted to Islam. The terrorist have won. For what?! Religion and the God/Allah concept.

On the other hand, if your wrong and we defeat the terrorist the scenario I wrote about in post 25 will be validated.

Well .. brace yourself. You don't know what I might know ..??

Ditto.

P.S. I thought the Bible called for the end of the world (astrophysicist predict 5 billion years) not the end of the Universe. It appears your Universe is the world/Earth bound. The 25 billion years is the estimated time remaining for the Universe.

Well .. I'll simplify it for you .. Jesus said, "I will create a new heaven and a new earth".

As a Christian, I'm very aware we are living in "the last days", whether non-Christians believe that or not. How long those days will last, I don't know exactly (because "the Father only knoweth") .. but I can assure you they are not that far away. My 10 years is just a reference point .. it keeps me doing everything I can do, just in case there's only 10 years left.

For whatever it's worth .. I do not believe Islam ever wins anything. I've studied it's beginnings .. nothing built on jealousy and hate ever survives.

Since your statements pretty much tell me you are not a Christian .. there's nothing more for us to discuss.

"Yours is a small world"

Why ..?? BECAUSE IT DOESN'T AGREE WITH YOU!! How silly is that ..??

In the Book of Deuteronmy, Chapter 28-29, GOD set before HIS creation (man) the blessings and the curses. Then .. after GOD had described them all, HE said, "I've set before you this day, blessing and cursing .. Now YOU CHOOSE, but (here was a clue) choose life".

You study the universe and worship it .. I study the Creator of the universe and worship HIM.

Why ..??BECAUSE IT DOESN'T AGREE WITH YOU!! How silly is that ..??

No need to flail your arms and yell.

Here's why: first, you relate the end of the world -- or end of human life --  time frame with the projected end of the Universe time frame. You wrote "they're off by at least 25 billion years. If the world has even 10 years, I'll be shocked."50 Earth and the Sun have an estimated five billion years before the Sun burns out.

Second, because you've assumed I'm a non-Christian you say: "there's nothing more for us to discuss."54 How silly is that? BTW, you're still discussing the subject.

You study the universe and worship it .. I study the Creator of the universe and worship HIM.

I don't worship mysticism. Nor the Universe. I study the creator of Universes--conscious beings/man. Conscious beings -- the third macro component of the Universe -- is the third macro component of existence. To control existence is to understand nature to control nature.

Also, regarding your last comment, your holier-than-thou comment you may want to consider that for more than 2,000 years believers of the God speculation do not have definitive proof that God exists. Much less created the Universe. On the other hand the conscious-beings-control-existence speculation begins with definitive proof that conscious beings do exist.

Nature Of Man - Eternal Life
vs.
Fundamentalist Terrorism - End Of Life

Man has continually advanced technology to the greater benefit of man and civilization. That some men -- whether guided by political power (irrationality), God or Allah (mysticism) --  use that technology to destroy, contradicts man's nature and essentially chains man to an anti-civilization. Ie., political-agenda and religious-agenda wars, Crusades and terrorism -- irrationality, mysticism and criminality.

As I wrote in 25 "Most important is the increase in human longevity. There will come a time, sooner rather than latter where conscious man will reach youth rejuvenating biologic immortality on Earth." While animals have no choice man does have the choice to achieve physical immortality. The nature of conscious beings/man is immortal. Earthlings are an anomaly. Proof that we live to die in an anticivilization is that similar to animals that cannot escape death all humans are taken by death.

By nature, conscious beings live forever in civilizations -- the civilization of the Universe.

After 2,300 years the pendulum has begun to swing the other direction. Away from irrationality, mysticism, criminality and dishonesty. Now gaining momentum toward fully integrated honesty.

Even after thousands of years. Honesty outlives the lie. It always has. It always will.

The nature of man is immortal. Immortal conscious beings cannot be controlled by any external authority. Be it political, religious or terrorist control. They don't exist in any civilization.

Except in self-defense, there's nothing gained from killing a healthy man or woman. Unable to kill immortal man there is no threat to control him by. Immortal beings have no awareness of human death. They've never pondered that conscious beings could destroy another conscious being or the fruits of his labor.

Living according to man's nature all conscious beings produce more values than they consume. Thus are a huge benefit to man. Immortal beings throughout the civilization of the Universe have never fathomed destroying that which creates values. ...Never contemplated or considered destroying conscious man that understands nature to control nature. It just never enters their minds.

Six billion people/Earthlings living in this brief cosmic period of time are an infinitesimal number compared to the population of the universe that will have any recollection that conscious beings once died, much less killed conscious beings. The other 99.99999% of immortal conscious beings have never experienced an anticivilization.

Earth's anticivilization, having reached the nuclear decision threshold  -- the technology capable to kill virtually everyone on Earth --  must now defeat terrorist that have access to WMDs and the insane desire to kill almost everyone and convert the remaining to Islamic fundamentalism.

Defeating terrorism leaves open the way to achieve youth-rejuvenating immortality on Earth.

Quite frankly .. I totally disagree with you. I BELIEVE GOD EXISTS. However .. you have been given by GOD the right to choose not to believe that FACT.

I guess you've chosen not to believe. I have chosen to believe. Like I said before, "there's nothing more for us to discuss".
