Based on past viewing of returns in Florida, the Republican needs to net close to 60 percent in the early returns to be assured of a victory, since South Florida (Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Dade) report later and will erode any (R) lead. What about the Panhandle?

It helps, but S. Florida is much more heavily populated - 1/3 of the state lives there. Just over 3 percent reporting now - returns starting to come in from Orange County (Orlando - Gore Country in 2000, but Martinez' base) - Bush still extending his lead. I'll post new numbers in a bit.
