I can't remember what country this was in, but a couple of years ago an incubent was re-elected after a failed assasination attempt. Apparently the attempt gave him a boost. Not long after, the opposition began claiming that he set it up as a ploy to help himself out. Don't know what ever came of it?

In the Washinton Post article I just read--bottom line, ABC is blaming Bush for this tape being released as a scare tactic to work in their favor for the election. That of course is ABC's warped interpretation.
