I was at this game last Saturday and jokingly made a comment to those around me that someone might complain about the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band's (FTAB) "Flying W" formation which they opened the halftime show with.

I am Class of 1978 and have witnessed this formation several time throughout the years and am sure the FTAB used the formation long before there was a George W. Bush.

By the way this is only my second post of an article (mostly just a lurker). Hope I did okay.

What does the W stand for?

I'll be at Michigan Stadium on Saturday. We'll have to see if anyone in the east end zone gets upset about seeing an upside down block "M" band formation and claims that it's a "W".

Very good. Especially for an Aggie.

Hook em.

This is too funny. The dims are getting a little touchy, aren't they? I hope the complaint was answered in a very public way.

Freakin' amazing how it is somehow political and wrong to show support for a sitting President... Just goes to show that the Bush haters are also America haters...

That "W" was in honor of the esteemed Senator Poodle.

It stands for "wuss", and was a blatant attempt to influence wussies everywhere to vote for Kerry.

I did grad school study at TAMU, graduating in 1994, and I would like to express my approval of the use of the "Flying W" during this election year.

I can also say that the students at TAMU are among the finest in the country. The overwhelming majority of them come from good, wholesome backgrounds and they pride themselves on standing for God and Country. Their tradition of service to this nation is unmatched by any university outside of the service academies, and even then a number of Ags will point out some amazing statistics that put that comparison in focus.

Where is Aggie Mama? She needs to sign in here.

The Batt must be run by complete liberal weiners these days. As an Aggie (1991), I disown them publicly. They can take that paper to Austin.

Just tells you it's a girly man who never watches football. Naturally, he's a liberal. :P

From a Baylor Bear '65-a big "attaboy" to the FTAB, I wish the Golden Wave had that kind of courage.

My Aggie Little brothers response:

Hey dude. All is well here. We have all types in Texas. Back when I was in school and the Aggie Bonfire was still going on, there was a group called "Aggies Against Bonfire." Their 12-15 members would picket the bonfire each year... surrounded by about 10X as many cops to protect them.

The complaint about the band is stupid - especially given that W's dad was at the game standing right in front of the band when they did it!
