They just raised the age cap for reservist with an opportunity to go Active Duty!
My hubby signed up as soon as he found out about it!
He spoke to the recruiter yesterday and needs to lose about 20 pounds, which shouldn't take him to long!
He started yesterday to reach his goal.
He is meeting with the recruiter every 2 weeks for a weigh in and as soon as he has lost the pounds they start the papers!
There is a way for people with prior military experience to rejoin!
Chesty Puller said something similar to the following:
We're surrounded. That makes the job a lot easier.
So maybe the rebut is:
Charging in the front door is exactly the right thing to do. :-)
Mrs. Nooseman,
I read your posts on the Canteen thread about your husband's efforts to serve once again.
A few weeks ago cedar posted a message about "brave young men" in the military and I explained to him that I actually tried to avoid reading those types of stories because.....
On the one hand I feel sorrow for those in the line of fire but at the same time feel envy AND guilt that I can't be there with them.....very mixed emotions.
Needless to say, I am happy to have not only your husband but you as fellow Americans.....he, because he has chosen to serve again and you, for being proud of his actions.
God bless the both of you! :-)
Thank you so very much!
~ USAF 66-70 also ~
All right! USAF 78-82 here (still a kid!) Security Police Weapons specialist (M-16, M-203..do they still use those?, M-60). At the time I was 6' tall and weighed 130 pounds soaking wet...carried an M-60 (23 pounds), spare barrel pack, and 500 rounds along with an Alice pack on my back. Oh yea, we still had the old heavy VietNam era flak jackets and steel helmets with plastic interior liners. And when we settled into camp for the evening, nothing like a good C-Rat meal to end an exhausting day. And for those who think "Yuk"...I'll tell you a secret, it was a fun and morale building experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world!
Support our troops!
God Bless America.
That is great news, tame!
thanks SOOO much for the link!
