Viacom Inc. co-President Leslie Moonves said Tuesday that the CBS independent investigation into Dan Rather's report on President Bush's National Guard service will probably conclude "after the election so it won't affect what is going on."

Speaking at a Goldman Sachs media conference in New York, Moonves said the scope of the investigation will include "everything," including an "inappropriate phone call."
Moonves did not elaborate but reports following the "60 Minutes" program revealed that a CBS journalist helped a senior adviser to John Kerry's presidential campaign get in contact with the source behind the controversial story.
Interesting.... it takes longer to investigate a forgery than to actually COMMIT a forgery.
Sheesh.
>>>>"...so it won't affect what is going on."
Too late.
If it was titled "RNC-RATHER MEMOGATE" we would have an impeachment instead of an election. Watergate would be second class history.
Suppress the facts so the voters can't take them into account?
If Dan Rather is merely an impartial unbiased news presenter why would his resignation have any impact on the election?
Rats! CBS already tried to affect the affect the elections.
I want leaks, Drudge are you working your contacts on CBS?
CBS has left an accusation of a criminal offense committed by the President hanging out there. They have already tried to affect the election. It is there responsibility to clear the record.
They are waiting because they don't want to affect the election? They either don't want to clear the air, as stated above, or they have something on Kerry. If they have information that the Kerry campaign was involved in Rathergate, they have an obligation to let the public know before the election.
To claim that they are postponing the report until after the election so as not to affect it is an outrage.
Yes but there will be leaks galore revealing the validity of the 'story' and completely exonerating Blather from any wrong doing.
As the Church Lady would say, 'How conveeeeeenyent.'
Translation: "after the election" so it won't undo the damage it has already done to the good name of a decent man.
Spare the whitewash. This forgery event is over.
