I posted this because of John Kerry cosponsoring this.

`(xi) M1 Carbine;
That's 50+ years old!

And the AR-15 is a competitive rifle.

D changes the fact that it's now one feature than two.

`(L) A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General. In making the determination, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any Federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.'.

That's the worst part. Almost all firearms, including hunting rifles, are based on military firearms. This isn't just the CMP M1 Garands.

The Mossberg 500 - the most basic shotgun - was used in the military. The 1911 .45 ACP - The most basic pistol around - military. And the AG makes the decision.

These same jokers that cosponsored this voted to ban the .30-30 ammunition.

"42) PISTOL GRIP- The term `pistol grip' means a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip."

So if you can hold the gun, it is banned.

If Kerry is elected and this kind of crap gets passed, it's going to get real ugly here. They can be concerned about civil wars abroad, but this kind of legislation could bring that kind of bird home to roost on our own soil.

But the Mossy 500 is not semiautomatic, as required in the section you high-lighted.

Why, of COURSE..don't we know by now, in liberal-speak all guns are assault weapons, in fact all weapons are assault weapons. When a rapist or home invader attacks the citizen should quickly reach for his or her little red soda straw from a McDonald's milkshake and pelt the villian with spitballs.

Then send a campaign contribution to a favorite anti-gun senator to thank him for insuring that the assailant was stripped of his weapons also - after all, who really thinks that a criminal would disobey the law?

I have the .410 for Home Protection. What do they want me to do, defend myself with Spitballs.

The Mossberg 500 - the most basic shotgun - was used in the military.

IIRC, the Mossberg 500 series is not "semi-automatic" -- it is "slide action" (or "pump").

BTW, I'm looking for a good buy on a clean Mossberg 590...

The usual cast of idiots, communists and, in some cases, unindicted criminals:

Sen Akaka, Daniel K. [HI] - 1/28/2004
Sen Boxer, Barbara [CA] - 9/25/2003
Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY] - 10/1/2003 <- Here's one! (FEC violations)
Sen Corzine, Jon [NJ] - 7/17/2003
Sen Dodd, Christopher J. [CT] - 2/23/2004
Sen Durbin, Richard J. [IL] - 2/9/2004
Sen Feinstein, Dianne [CA] - 2/23/2004
Sen Kennedy, Edward M. [MA] - 2/9/2004 <- Here's another! (Manslaughter, at least)
Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] - 11/21/2003 <- And another! (War crimes, treason)
Sen Levin, Carl [MI] - 2/9/2004
Sen Mikulski, Barbara A. [MD] - 9/4/2003
Sen Reed, John F. [RI] - 9/4/2003
Sen Sarbanes, Paul S. [MD] - 10/1/2003
Sen Schumer, Charles E. [NY] - 12/9/2003
How can criminals be against something that would be so useful to their occupation? :)

No, the liberals want you to be completely defenseless, so that you have no way of resisting when they make their final move to strip you of ALL your rights.

They want to be the ruling class that can draft any onerous law that would be binding on you and me, but which they themselves have no intention of obeying.

The last few paragraphs of Ann Coulter's "Treason" says it all.

A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun

It doesn't semiautomatic rifle or SEMIAUTOMATIC shotgun. It just said semiautomatic rifle or shotgun, without any adjetive.

I'm being nitpicky, but that wasn't clear to me that it did not mean only semi-auto shotguns, and I certainly do not trust an AG, particulary a Kerry one, to make the distinction.

That is directed at the AR-15, M1 Garand, and their competitive shoots.
