Americans would vote for it"""

Wanna bet? Your comment isn't logical. If the politicians are "cowards" for voting against it, that means they're afraid of someone - - i.e., their constituents, American people. They're afraid that they'd get voted out for supporting a draft. That's hardly an indications that "Americans would vote for it."

Watch as the usual suspects: Jim McDimwit, Patty "terrorist sympathizer" Murray, and Charlie "I went to Korea" Rangel all vote for it.

29 days before the election?

If you cannot understand how allowing it to be voted on in the House aids the Republicans, I give up.

And if you can't see the headlines tomorrow, "GOP Approves Vote On Draft", then you're blind.

While I admire the kink of universal service that is in place in Switzerland and Israel it runs dead against the spirit of American volunteerism. We've never really used the draft as anything more than a unpopular rank filler and given the scale, a system such as the Israelis or Swiss employ would put us all in the 50% tax bracket without any positive benefit to military readiness. In fact it would undermine the great tradition we have of volunteerism.
As much as I would like to see universal basic training, I agree that Keyes and Kerry both have their heads where the sun doesn't shine on this one.

Another vote Awol Kerry will miss, no doubt?

Question: "Senator Kerry, why did you not feel it important enough to cast a vote on this democrat draft proposal you've been claiming was a republican idea?"

The Republicans need to expose the Liberals as pro draft after this legislation.

No, I am unconcerned. You place more emphasis on the MSM than I do.

Actually this is pretty smart. The best way to kill the rumors is to let the bill come up for a vote and then let Rangle and maybe a handful of other liberals be the only ones to vote for it.

This subject has come up about 3 or 4 times on other non-political board I go to (via liberals trying to scare people) and it's more difficult to explain how it's sponsored only by democrats... it will never see the light of day...blah blah blah. It will be a lot easier to say "It came up for a vote and only a few Democrats voted for it."

Hmmmm, if true, let's see how much coverage this gets in the lamestream media.

We know it won't pass but this needs to be out front. The Dimz have been spewing their lies that Pres. Bush wants the draft and it needs to be shown that DIMZ are pushing for it.

I'll look forward to seeing this on the news tonight. Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. :-)

From World Net Daily at
http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=30736

"When Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., called for the return of the military draft to prevent black soldiers from dying on the front lines in disproportionate numbers, hardly anyone questioned his premise.

Maybe he was wrong about the draft, but few argued that blacks served on the front-lines in higher percentages than whites.

It turns out that premise, too, is dead wrong.

In fact, it's whites who serve on the front-lines in disproportionate numbers.

Thank USA Today, of all sources, for nailing down the numbers..."

I hope for my country and especially my active duty counterparts that this won't ever pass. With the TRADOC regs currently in place, its already impossible to train the ones that WANT to be there! (Last time I was at Ft. Jackson, the worst political correctness perpetrator of all, I heard that as I was rotating out another training Bn. was getting a Bn. Commander that had actually told them that they weren't allowed to YELL at the soldiers...we arent allowed to call the "privates" anymore either.)

But realistically, this was just a way for Rangel to wrangle some media exposure and favor with his fellow misery merchants. Its not going anywhere.

Also, I don't believe that it was a dem plot to plant the rumor in order to use it against the President...it was brought up too long ago. That would be some Count-of-Monte-Cristo-stuff, and we can tell from their love for quick-fix tax hikes that the dems don't plan that far ahead :)

Naw, look at the time line, D. HR-169 was proposed right before OIF kicked off. The timing was deliberate - it's a protest straw dog that's about to ignite, should it ever get to the floor.
