Just announced on CNN.
No, that's silly. But it was also silly that Bush could have "put this away" with one debate. The othern ight was the FIRST time anyone saw Kerry for ninety minutes straight and he wasn't so bad. But his policies suck and once the initial "He's ok" wears off, all will be well. Bush has to step up and wallop him next time, though, and I hope this one has big viewership. W has work to do, but he always did.
That's how I feel...If people are choosing a President based on what he LOOKS like or talks like instead of what he says and what he does than we don't deserve to be free anymore. The libs have won by dumbing down society. I'm so pissed off now I can scream. Did anyone hear Dr. Laura on Friday. SHE RIPPED INTO KERRY. It was so great. She said he and his wife were evil and she couldn't believe 50% of people in this country would elect people with this kind of terrible character. It was in regards to calling the President of Iraq and President Bush liars.
This result is actually not very surprising.
Any Republicans I have been talking to thought Bush did pretty badly also. That will depress numbers in a Gallup poll and because the Democrats are upbeat, it will cause their numbers to uptick also.
I must admit, I was very disturbed and disappointed by Bush's inability to defend himself during that debate. I kept yelling out attack lines and talking points while he was stumbling over his words, it was disconcerting, to say the least.
1/3 cell phones only?? No way.
While I don't think it's time to panic, I do think there's some cause for concern. I think the "foreign policy" debate was one that should have been Bush's strong point. I don't know if he will do better in the "domestic affairs" debate that is coming up. The "town hall" style debate is another possible minefield, considering how the audience may be stacked. Also Kerry now has some confidence and momentum to build on.
Bottom line: Bush needs to be stronger in the next two debates than he was in the first one and can't allow himself to become visibly frustrated or this election could start moving in the wrong direction quickly.
he should have only agreed to 2, most incumbents only do 2. He should have insisted on a panel of moderators, not Leherer.
If Bush had shut Kerry down in the first debate, the other two debates wouldn't have been that important. That didn't happen so now the other two debates are much more significant. Jim Baker didn't do the President any favors.
Was that a survey of democrats?
"That's how I feel...If people are choosing a President based on what he LOOKS like or talks like instead of what he says and what he does than we don't deserve to be free anymore"
Excuse me but that is exactly what the entire 1960 election turned on. LOOKS!!!
"She said he and his wife were evil and she couldn't believe 50% of people in this country would elect people with this kind of terrible character"
Where was DR. Laura between 1993 and 2001?
OhGeorgia: joined Free Republic Sept 22, 2004
BE GONE, TROLL!!
Wouldn't it be tragic, and almost a death sentence for the US, if, in the space of sixteen years, a rapist/draft dodger is/was President, and four years later a pacifist/traitor is elected?
Also, Cheney needs to do well in the VP debate, otherwise the Kerry people will gain some real momentum.....
OhGeorgia is ALSO a cheese-eating surrender monkey!! ;-))
She's probably John Lewis (U.S.rep. from Georgia) in disguise.
It's not posted on the website.
Rove said last week he had "a couple" surprises in the works for October, which would make the purely emotional reaction to Kerry's performance meaningless. We shouldn't worry about polls until we get within two weeks of the election. There's a word (and frequently two) that can't be used in polite company to describe all of the "hand wringing" going on over the polls. These poll posts are similarly a harmless but pointless exercise. They do seem to give the trolls something to do though.
For objective testimony, check out the on line trading websites. The market currently asseses Bush's relection odds as 6 in 10, and Kerry, of course, at 4 in 10. Even at GWs peak in the "betting" polls his chances were "only" 7 in 10. If the odds go down to 50/50, that's when to start getting worried.
Bush blew it big time!!
Gallup is slow with updating their site. Last time I think it took several hours.
