Pinging those who attended this event, and Angelwood and Staytrue.

They're doing another blood dance with cardboard coffins. This time at the Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 23.

Possible FReep, but I may be tied up that day.

Iraq War Memorial Set for October 23rd by Pat Elder
05 Oct 2004 Modified: 07 Oct 2004

A moving tribute to American soldiers who have lost their lives in the Iraq War will be held on October 23, 2004 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D. C.

Organizers of the IRAQ WAR MEMORIAL plan to honor American war dead by displaying a flag-draped coffin for each of the more than 1,000 American service men and women killed to date in the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Organizers believe this is the first time that all of the U. S. Soldiers who have lost their lives in the Iraq war have been honored as a group in this type of public tribute.

The ceremonial display will stretch down both sides of the Reflecting Pool between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington, Monument. The Lincoln Memorial site was selected because of its beauty, historical significance and proximity to the Korean and Vietnam War Memorials.

The display will be open for public viewing and solemn tribute throughout the day, beginning at 11:00 am. At 1:00 pm, a formal ceremony of honor will begin with a reading of the soldiers’ names, followed by the playing of taps.

Volunteer coffin builders will gather at 8:00 am on Saturday, October 23rd. For more information or to volunteer assembling, draping and placing coffins.

A moving tribute to American soldiers

I'm all for a tribute to American soldiers. But a procession of coffins ? The left has a strange idea about tributes.
