We were all trusting Newsweek when Bush was up 11 points, now Newsweek is a fraud? I sense real panic among conservatives....Personally, I was very disappointed in Bush's performance, he played to all the cliches and jokes about his intelligence and inability to speak. Bush did so well with O'Reilly the week before, its amazing how poorly he did against Kerry. I really think he was intimidated by Kerry. The one thing that really bothered me was Bush didn't ACT presidential; the facial expressions were a big turn-off to women and swing voters. I was a bit aggravated with it too !!
No, that is not true. We were NOT all trusting Newsweek when Bush was up 11 points. We were saying they had cooked the polls by oversampling Republicans.
People who were paying attention called BS on Newsweek's post convention poll and their deliberate undersampling of demoncrats and oversampling of Republicans. We saw this coming weeks ago.
Uh, hardly.
People were tearing Newsweek to shreds for their manufactured polling results, they suspected they might be attempting to provide a big boost to make it a dramatic shift in Kerry's favor later. Surprise! They were right.
I don't think it's real panic. I just think there was a sense here and elsewhere in the conservative world ... fueled in a lot of ways, IMHO, by some of what Limbaugh's been saying ... that at the end of the day, on 11/2, Bush would win this thing going away and it wouldn't be close, that there was no way anyone in their right mind would vote for John Kerry and that all Bush would have to do is be presidential and above the fray and say "liberal, liberal, liberal" and "terrorism, terrorism, terrorism" and he'd seal the deal. And IMHO, this race was ALWAYS destined to be close. Always. I think Kerry won the debate the other night, but not by much and nothing cataclysmically shifted in this race, regardless of this poll. But what I'm hoping is that this poll won't spook people into panic, but might negate some overconfidence and taking things for granted, and remind people that the White House and all of us are going to have to work our fingers absolutely to the bone, 24/7, no rest and no quarter, for the next 31 days to pull this off.
"The one thing that really bothered me was Bush didn't ACT presidential; the facial expressions were a big turn-off to women and swing voters. I was a bit aggravated with it too !!"
LOL "ACT presidential" well he is the President so I guess he was ACTING Presidentially irritated. And about facial expressions being a "big turn-off" hmmm I am a woman and I wasn't particularly turned off. I didn't dwell on that.
It was the content and I have listened to Kerry for years twist truths and offer out as fact basically LIES. No panic here either. Right will win the day!!
