This is just a trick poll to give Kerry perceived momentum, so they can keep the race close. Bush needs to campaign hard and work on getting the vote out and he will win by 3-4%.

It's a national poll...right?

What does a national poll have to do with winning an election.

Bush is closer in many states than we could have ever imagined he'd be..New Jersey, etc.

Only EV counts...national polls don't go very far to convince me of the outcome of an election.

I don't believe this poll any more than I believed all of those polls in the late 90's that showed Clinton's popularity soaring in spite of all the scandals.

I wasn't around FR in those days and would love to read any archived threads re: the Clinton popularity polls. Do any old-timers have links?

I agree. It's a trick. Not that we shouldn't take notice, it could work to our favor. Look, people said the same things after the 1st 2000 debate. Granted, Gore didn't do himself any favors by coming across as an obnoxious twerp. But, what's the one thing we all know about Kerry!?! He's an arrogant, egotistical, you know what! Let him think he's on a role, then the true Kerry is all the more likely to come out. I think he was quite guarded the other night, and even then he still let things like 'global test' slip out! The better he thinks he is, the more careless. On the other hand, now Bushes team has all the ammunition staight from the horses mouth (pun intended). They have time to plan and prepare and corner Kerry with his own words. Kerry can't claim that he changed his mind because of more info after only one week! I think Bush will be outstanding this next go around! I also think that Kerry's got himself in such a quagmire that he can't twist loose. This tiny set back, if you want to call it that, will keep us Repulicans on our toes!
