It may have been askew, but it was blue, the standard business color this year.
Red ties are out. Of course, Kerry wore a red tie.
I think Bush should eschew the coat and tie next Friday, roll up his sleeves and talk with the folks. He's more relaxed and does a better job in "business casual."

Pink shirts are in, and don't let me catch EITHER of them in one.

And Kerry's makeup job was done by Drag Queens'R'Us. It reminded me of the email that's been going around.

Wouldn't ya just love to see Bush walk out, take off his jacket, roll up his sleeves, step up to the mike...and say something to the effect..."OK let's get this soiree over with, I got work to do." Things I would pay to see. :)

I think it should be noted that Bush MADE BLUE the standard business color. The day of the SOTU after 9-11 Bob Woodward was trailing Bush and Bush asked him "what color tie do you think I ought to wear, red or blue?" and Woodward said "red" and Bush wore blue. It's been the power tie color ever since.
Fashion follows George W. Bush. sKerry can only wish.
