ABC News has an exclusive interview with Col. Stoudt, the retired colonel who allegedly pressured Killian to cover for Lt. Bush during his Air National Guard stint according to forged documents aired by CBS News.
Stoudt says the docs are fake, he never pressured Killian about Bush and he did nothing to help Bush get into the Air National Guard in fact he was happy to have as many pilots as he could.

Thanks to both of you. Man, we need to get Staudt on the campaign trail today. Classic.

Press Secretary would be a good position for Staudt.
Maybe he could cause Helen Thomas to shake off this mortal coil.

Hey -- it IS a true quote! I'm digging for a link and a date, but this has been published, I think before CBS ran its story. LOL. It just keeps getting better and better.

I am wondering if they simply assumed Staudt was dead, since Killian had passed away. Maybe there is a brother who passed away and they mistook him for General Staudt.
To: Pres Raygun
You are absolutely correct. They have also hidden behind the Constitutional protections of the First Amendment to malign, defame people with whom they disagree or slant the news to their own concepts of the world the way they want it to be, not as it is.
Having dealt with the press myself, I know how the game is played. Believe me, when they arrive at your doorstep they already know what they want to write or report - they just have to get a few quotes or a little info to support their premise.
(Blushing) I once surprised a reporter by telling her "I know that XXX is what you want to write." Her mouth fell open and she asked how I could possibly know that was her "exact intent."
I simply smiled and said, "well you just confirmed it."

Talked to friend in DC who spent his/her (disguised ID there) time split between Capitol Hill Brewing Company, Tortilla Coast and The Monocle last night. (3 good Cap Hill watering holes.)
He/She says
ABC types are loving it.
NBC is stoically loving it.
Fox people yell "unfair and unbalanced" every time Rather's picture comes up on screen (All nets monitor each other)
At CBS, all is quiet, too quiet. Only CBSers out last night were not there to see of they could set up a score for the weekend (the usual Thirsty Thursday night activity.)
They all just sat in corners together, got sh*t faced early, then went home early... and alone.

Serious?
Yes ........... makes sense to me to keep it out front and on the main page..... that way the Bush campaign doesn't get its campaign message out and Kerry isn't any longer the focus.... But then as long as the President is leading I guess it really doesn't matter. jmo of course.

I love the guy, Staudt said of Bush. I'm so tired of this negative crap about him that I'd like to volunteer to build a barn and take you press guys out behind it and kick your asses.

From your hometown paper:
Texan has a history of attacks on Bush
Drudge now has the story as his top item under the headline:
CBS DOCUMENT 'SOURCE'
COMPARED BUSH TO
HITLER
The essential quote:
__________________________________________________
Anti-Bush background
In an article Burkett wrote for the Internet last year he compared Bush to Hitler and Napoleon as one of "the three small men" who sought to rule through tyranny. "Three small men who wanted to conquer and vanquish," Burkett wrote. Burkett confirmed authorship of that article in the February Chronicle interview.
Some of Burkett's friends and associates say they don't know whether he is the CBS source.

"I love the guy," Staudt said of Bush. "I'm so tired of this negative crap about him that I'd like to volunteer to build a barn and take you press guys out behind it and kick your asses." At the very least, Brit Hume needs to have this quote on his "Grapevine" segment.
To: MindBender26
Thanks so much. Sounds accurate, especially with ABC now running their 'exclusive' Staudt interview. Rather will never recover, having chosen the tact he has. Thanks again and have a great weekend....

That buttresses the theory that this was originally planned to roll out the weekend before the election and any debunking by living witnesses like Staudt would come after election day--too late to rectify if the unthinkable had happened and they achieved their desired result.
The theory further goes that Kerry's freefall sparked a desperation move to run the story now and here we are.

My surname is German too, though it's not apparent.
I asked you about Boldt, cuz I remember when my ex told me they had changed the name of the company. Picture the finger thing people do that is kinda like flicking off a booger. Old Oscar dies (flick) & right away they rename the company.
